So i wondered, does anyone know which instrument is used at: 0:48 to 1:00 ?

sounds like a banjo

It's a pipa, a traditional Chinese string instrument.
It's used in several of the Naruto scores.
If you go to 1:47 in this video you can see it in use (Very cool cover..)
