So what was Naruto doing while Sasuke had to protect Sarada.

He has teleportation jutsu and Susanoo but used himself like a meatshield... It was pathetic performance imo.

He at least moved and fought them.Naruto was literally next to Salad where his chakra arms could have protected Salad easily and he didnt do anything

What did Sasuke figure out?

Naruto was trying to analyze situation and protect Salad.Sasuke was only intent on capturing them and fighting them head to head.

I think people are being a bit to harsh on naruto and sasuke. Of course naruto skills would rusty, they have been in peaceful times for nearly a decade and naruto has hokage duties too add. This defeat will only help naruto gain his skills back.
Now sasuke fought the shin duo and handle the fight fairly well. People say sasuke should have used susanoo to protect sarada and I agree, but even sasuke battle sense may have been cloudy but only because his daughter was the target. I believe the only thing that ran through sasuke's mind was to protect his daughter at all cost. As long as sarada near sasuke when he fighting, he has a major weakness.

Of course, this is just my opinion and my take on the chapter.
