How did u know a certain arc/episode is a filler and not connected to the manga when u were new to Naruto Anime?

I watched in Naruto part 1 episodes that doesn't have anything to do with the story ,, so i was like wtf is that? More episodes and arcs came and i realized something wrong cause the episodes im watching are completely useless to the story. So i was watching the utakata arc and i wanted to see it manga version, i searched and searched i didn't find it at all, after that i realized they are only in the anime , and i thought the manga skipped it hahahahahaha. It turns out the anime added it hahahahah. Then get to know they are called fillers.

What about u guys how did u know they are not in the manga/anime only

IF you see Sakura or even if someone mentions her name in the episode then lemme assure you that it's got nothing to do with the story and hence can be classified as a filler episode.

When I watched on Toonami, there were something like 15 episodes that had nothing to do with the current story after Sasuke left Konoha.
