We can see that after Naruto cut, the tree was alive so it communicated to Madara.

At the cut place we can see that it was not a clean cut, since there are some matchwood there.

Sasuke’s cut look very clean and there are no such remaining things.

Trolls are complicated creatures, magnificent at a distance yet fearsomely inconvenient to the rural peoples whose fate is to live among them. Experts agree, though, that just within recent decades the overall total has declined significantly.
