It's a shounen manga. In every shounen manga, the final villain gets OP, then, after a serious beating, the main character/s get new power-ups that make them OP. The last battle is between the final villain and main character/s, in which, obviously, shounen style, main character wins...U_U There are very few mangas in which the main character dies..(you should know very well about what i'm talking about :win:)

It probably would be more interesting if it ended like that

You are going to be disappointed, one its a Shounen Manga and whens the last time you saw a Shounen Manga where the bad guy wins in the end.

Kishi is making this manga for a young generation of people so giving it a tragic ending wouldn't fit the demographic.

And most importantly of all, the ending where the Tomoe is on the moon isn't happening because that's not how Infinite Tsukuyomi works, you are completely aware you are under it because it creates illusions of dead loved ones, unless you all are saying that if a dead guy shows up at your door that's perfectly natural.

Tragic ending, something like "The last of us" the good guys technically win but at what cost? Happy endings are too unrealistic and over rated and not memorable when you watch a movie with a happy ending you forget about it quickly. But a tragic ending? That shit gets stuck in your mind

Your wrong.

The reason people read fiction in the first place is because it is unrealistic. If you did your research you would note that people generally prefer stories with happy endings.

People get pretty unhappy when the hero fails or dies in the end, and why would an author upset the people he is trying to please, especially sense many authors actually enjoy making the fans happy, they enjoy seeing the fans smile.

Plus in stories where the hero dies in the end, I have seen many fanbases, take it very badly to the point that they send the author death threats.

Plus it kills all the development the author has given the characters.

So the real issue is which is more important, a good story, or an unexpected ending.
