I was okay with everything until the last panel. Why the **** does Naruto have that stupid, knowing look on his face when his UNDEAD FATHER TELEPORTS IN FRONT OF HIM. Even given everything that's happened to him, that is by far one of the most shocking things to ever happen in Naruto's life. Naruto may as well be farting and doing a handstand in that last panel.
Nothing was retconned. It was more specified if anything. Go back and read the explanation in th early manga. It never said shinobi could only perform up to two or 3 elements. It was said Jounin will likely have MASTERED two elements. There's a difference between mastering an element and being able to perform the basics. And likely, a good portion of the army is jounin or chuunin. I think they can all manage a Doton 101 jutsu, but failed.
Also, I originally thought he threw the kunai at the Bijuudama, teleported to it inorder to touch it and activate his warping jutsu (remember when he did it against Kurama he performed handseals and stood in front of the blast), then threw another kunai down toward Naruto inorder to teleport to. Hiraishin is definitely fast enough to do this.
I don't see much to claim otherwise.
However i thought Naruto sensed him, but wrong. The only reason is how did he know? I think we're debating how quickly Minato got to the battlefield a little bit much. Ignoring the fact that we don't know for sure when the marvellous Sasuke and his Hokage backing singers set off from Konoha (Just because it cut to Sasuke at a certain point isn't to say that was happening at the exact same time as Naruto and his crew), I think we have to allow a little suspension of disbelief in a manga where people can start fires with their eyeballs.
