Madara united the Shinobi.

It wasn't Madara who united them, It was Obito. And let's not forget other characters also played important role like Gara, Naruto, Ino etc.
U can say Obito used Madara's name but let's not forget that people still hated each other before the war began as shown when shinobi from same village were hesitant to fight alongside with shinobis from other village.
20years later if an alien/experiment(whatever Kawaki is) comes and destroy the village doesn't mean Naruto failed. It only means this Kawaki guy has some hax technique which Naruto failed to stop.

He did fail to protect the village if he was still hokage, but he did bring peace for awhile and hopefully the next generation can continue his way.

Once Naruto, Sasuke, the Kages, and the elders are gone, I bet all the villages will start fighting again. Naruto fully supports the corrupted shinobi system anyway. Nothing has changed.

He's still letting Orochimaru, Sasuke, and Kabuto kick around like it's nothing. And Orochimaru is still kidnapping children, conducting his experiments, and doing the same ol' crap he did during Hurizen's age.

Naruto is soft, but despite this, he's still one of my favs.
