It wasn't really a "I give up"

Those were tears of frustration. He knows he can't defeat Juubito and because of this people are dying.
He knows that if he continues to fight, more people will die. So he's blaming himself for the death of so many people.

A true "I give up" moment was with Hinata.
Here he was just angry and frustrated. You can see it clearly... Naruto grinding his teeth.

After all, Naruto is more sensitive than Sasuke. We all know that. He's too damn emotional.

Sasuke was there to stop Naruto from having those thoughts. This was part of the "Regret flashback" you all saw, it was what he was thinking.

This completely depends on what definition of 'gave up' you want to use. I don't believe he 'gave up' in the sense of throwing in the towel for good, but I agree if you mean that he was overwhelmed by despair and momentarily gave up, and yes of course Sasuke deliberately snapped him out of it. This is pretty similar to the time in part 1 when Sasuke froze in front of Orochimaru's snake and Naruto called him a scaredy cat.

Yeah I apologize if I gave of the impression that I meant he just said "f**k it" it was more of a momentarily feeling doubt. But some these Naruto fanboys make sound as if he never loses hope. I think if Sasuke didn't help Naruto back on his feet there's a possibility that he actually would'vr given up.

This give up was more in line with the scaredy cat comment from the original naruto. This just allows for them to have the banter later on when Naruto will say to Sasuke "Are you already done?" just like when Naruto came back with are you scared comment.

Yup, don't be surprised if Naruto says "Are you already done?" to Sasuke

That time he really gave up...
You could see it in his expression, it was clear as day.
That's why it took some talking to help him.

What happened on chapter 647 is more than "I give up".
In my opinion, it's a decision. It's sacrifice. Some ninja + Hiruzen said it was almost impossible to get near that thing. They said it was suicide. And yet Naruto and Sasuke are going. It already showed his life. Hinata already said, "Naruto-kun" as if she knew what his intentions are. Honestly, I believe that if Naruto and Sasuke saw their deaths, they misinterpreted it.

He's pissed and frustrated, just as Sasuke. But Naruto is more open about it. Those memories in the flashback? They were from the time Naruto was crying. He was thinking about those things (not the ones you saw, but it's the same idea. It's 'I am the reason those people are getting killed')

I honestly don't think he did. There's no definite answer on stuff like this, people read manga differently yknow?

To me, he was starting to freak out because of the pure devastation of the battlefield, a bunch of dead corpses he couldn't save, talk of the end of the world and don't forget- he almost literally just died.

Agreed. I couldn't of said it any better. It made the reader realize how bad the situation actually is, I'm glad are seeing that I'm not character bashing. It doesn't make Naruto bad, it makes him human.
this is the first good thing sasuke has done in the war. for all his war feats he was a support character and used very few of his own jutsu. naruto has been fighting nonstop and keeping every single memeber of the alliance alive by himself with very little help other than a few motivational speeches like this one. the fact is what sasuke alot of people tink sasuke is just being a smartass like usaul and tanting naruto by saying he stronger or something. the fact is what he said was absolutely true, he is litterally just getting started. in the meantime he has done nothing but let other people do things for him and let a ton of people he could of possibly saved die. he even did nothing when naruto was about to die and everyone else is about to save him. while i agree that what he did was good and he did motivate naruto, the fact is this is his the only the second time he has been helpful in this war without being completely reliant on someone else, the other time is when he and itachi cast genjutsu on each other to get out of genjutsu. the fact that he is literally just getting started when the war is already basically at its end and he has had plenty of chances to make a name for himself with outrageous feats, and the fact that he just stood there when everyone including naruto were dying completely overshadows the fact that he motivated naruto.

I agree 100% as a Naruto fan myself. That scene was really well done no matter what they say (Naruto is a crybaby etc).A moment of self doubt and him losing hope adds more to his character and makes him realistic, thats why he has his friends(Sasuke this time around) to help him get back on his feet and snap out of it.You cant do everything alone no matter how powerful you are.

Though not for long. It was clear that as Naruto was crying it was because he began to lose hope. It's completely understandable, Obito is OP af and his power is overwhelming the alliance. Naruto is witnessing a bunch of shinobi dying just by the touch of a branch, and on top of that he just got his chakra sucked out. So some doubt is gonna be there, it's human nature (just like the Heat in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals before Ray Allen hit that EPIC ASS F***KN SHOT OMFG!!! I still fanboy over that). Anyways Sasuke noticed this and decided to take action while taunting Naruto at the same time. But I think that this was Sasuke's own way of saying to Naruto that not all hope is lost and not to give up. IDK why SOME (not all), but yeah SOME Naruto fanboys get so offeneded when people say Naruto gave up. When they see people say that they're so quick to call whoever stated it a butthurt Sasuke fanboy. But I think it was great for the character development of both Naruto and Sasuke

People try to belittle their friendship/rivalry but I think Kishi did a fantastic job with it. I like the fact that their friendship wasn't all in your face and annoying like Shikamaru and Choji. It's much more deeper (that's what she said) and complicated than that. And even though I HATED last chapter, I enjoyed that Naruto Sasuke bit. Time for Kakashi to return and Sakura to get some more action for the TRUE Team 7 reunion.
Didn't read but He did give up
