Getting blitzed = Hit someone without him capable to react. There was no blitz here. He was just surprised by Gai's sudden speed/approach, just like Itachi here [

The question mark isn't written to describe a blitz but to show concern about some event happening infront of you out of surprise for one or other reason, but you could notice on the following event, Madara did block him [

]. He was only pushed back because of the power of the punch
Well if you didn't imply so(what i thought), my bad. Either way it's what i'm trying to explain to you. And the best example i could give you is Sasuke inside his Susanoo when he was trying to stop Obito [

]. Neither him or his Susanoo were physically capable to reach Obito, but his arrows(attack speed) were. It's the same thing with Gai and his punches, Madara and his orbs, and so on. So basically, Gai can't physically reach a distance as fast as his punches, the same way Sasuke can't physically reach a distance as fast as his arrows
Look above. It was more an astonishment due to Gai's sudden boost in speed rather than an inability to react there for Kisame
Kunai throwing is one of the fastest moves in the manga. Kakashi being capable to throw a kunai at a distance faster than Gai can physically reach won't be surprising. Doesn't mean however that Kakashi is faster than Gai(just like Sasuke and his arrows)
