Lol the thing that makes the funny is becuase I remember when naruto used rasengan on kabutoand I was like "that's epic" and I thought that the strongest jutsu ever. And now there's a susanoo that chops maintains in half. One more thing I'm not saying I don't like naruto.
IKR. Naruto and One Piece started defying the Ninja and Pirate logic, IMO. The only Shonen manga that doesn't defy the characters' theme is Bleach IMO. The kind of powers and skills they have fits into the theme of Bleach, except for military rankings IMO. U_U

Their appearance has been based on the historical looks, being that they never looked like the stereotype ninja dressed in black jumpsuits.
Their powers, like Madara's, has been based on the old myths about ninja's and other warriors,
and also many Shintoistic and Budhistic mythological creatures..

Like Sarutobi Sasuke who was seen as basicly the Japanese Hercules was a famous ninja, and the myths around him described him as a god-like figure. And I don't have to tell you which characters have been based on him.

True but these individuals were "god-like" from human perspective, I mean we really aren't the most physically fit animals you know and above average strength, speed, agility, etc; puts us in awe. But the myths never said Sarutobi Sasuke could drop meteors or create the moon, that was reserved for the Shinto myths of the Kami.

I know, Sarutobi is just an example. But I think the human-perspective is what Kishi is going for here.
It's why ninjas were thought to be demonic creatures, because of their use of tricks.

Red Japanese couture on Ninjutsu you will see a mythological world built on the,Some people believed they could walk on water, fly threw the air. Ninjas use deception to fool their enemies, the same way magicians use tricks to make us believe in Magic.

I always thought they felt like super heroes lol. But I guess that's because real life ninja's don't have lightning jutsus or water jutsus that they can just use on the spot and not everyone can use nature affinities. Then again Naruto isn't real life. People like Gai and Lee feel like real ninjas because they don't constantly spam super powers.

The Shonen mangas mainly do something like this. They originally derived from the Dragonball Z series, which involves power level and full power attacks like the Saiyans for example. Naruto, One Pieces, Bleach, and Fairy Tail carries different themes. Naruto=Ninjas, One Piece=Pirates, Bleach=Shinigamis, Fairy Tails=Wizards. The Shonen category as we all know follows the same action format from The Dragon Ball series. It's not surprising it will turn into something like this.

If you read mangas outside the main Shonen manga, you won't have this kind of issue because most mangas don't follow how other series were written. Shonen again, does follow from another series.

If Naruto:Shippuden was more ninja-like then it would be boring because of Kishi's style. He doesn't try to push the envelopes like the same way Basilisk did. Basilisk was an awesome ninja manga/anime, if you haven't seen it then I do recommend it. Naruto:Shippuden is actually enjoyable to read now because there is more emphasis on strength and powers. My only thing is that Naruto is a one-trick pony. He uses the same run-and-gun" tactics with the same stupid Rasengan and its variations. I wouldn't even have a problem with this if he actually used his head and came up with some good tactics. At least with every other character they have to use their brains(Sasuke, Gaara, Kakashi, Itachi, to name a few) so even if they don't you could still make the argument that they can but not with him. But other than that I like the way Naruto:Shippuden has been progressing. It still feels like a ninja manga/anime to me.

Yeah I kinda agree Kishi has just exaggerated ninjas to make the great manga known as naruto.

Naruto stopped being ninja-ish when people like orochimaru were introduced and it focused more on the tailed beasts.
When they were kids the focus was alot more on the ninja tactics as they didnt have a wealth of techniques.

Then you get the sannin fight in part one which felt like a mage/summoner battle. That should have been the perfect indication on the future of the series. All the konoha 11 would need big flashy powers to compete with the grown ups.

So, I don't mind that it isn't ninja like anymore as to me, it fits nicely.
