Naruto Brief Thread Tutorial

This is a fun short guide for those wanting to make a new thread but have no idea how.

1. Think of a relevant topic.

This is one of the most important things that you have to think through before you even think of starting a thread (discussion). You want think of a topic that will spark a lot of interest. Could be something new or a different spin on something old. Whatever you decide make sure you do plenty of research on it. Remember the forum karma principle: A stupid question deserves a stupid answer.

2. The search button is your best friend.

I cannot tell you how often I see people making new threads about a subject that has or is already being discussed. Ask yourself these questions during your search:

Is there already a thread like this?
How many times has this subject been discussed?
How long has this particular thread been up?

3. Look for the Right Section to post in.

Simple. Read the description of the forum sections. A versus thread goes in the versus section, questions/suggestions about the site go in the questions & suggestions section, etc. Use your brain. ;3

4. Look for this symbol to make a new thread:
You must be registered for see images

5. Thread titles make a BIG difference.

Most threads fail before they even get read. Why? The title. Think of the title as a product you are trying to sell. If it has a bad name or something people have heard before they will more than likely give you a negative response or a lack thereof. The more simpler and unique the title the better chances you will get positive responses.

6. Effort goes a long way.

Your main goal of any thread is to get people to discuss about the topic. You want to give something for people to read but at the same time allow flexibility for people to share their responses. Posting a simple one liner or depending on your title to speak for you is letting your audience know you were not creative enough to write an introduction. What's worse is that sometimes people ignore the significance of providing their viewpoint.

ex. OP: Is yamato alive?

My logic: Since we do not know more information there really is no point in discussing it other than just speculate. Which quite frankly doesn't get us anywhere new and we end up where we started, nowhere. Thus, using this logic I would provide a negative response which won't benefit anyone and just create spam.

Person A: Sometimes.

7. Don't take it to heart.

Whether or not your subject was ill-received or not you must be able to accept criticism well. If someone does not agree with you or does not give you the response you wanted then accept it and move on. Lingering on negative responses shows a lack of maturity. Just like in real life, there will be people who like you and others who don't. Besides, if you feel you are getting upset then you can always exit the conversation and close the webpage. No point in losing your temper over something as trivial as the internet.
