Chapter 7: One Winged Angel

Just when matters at the Summit couldn’t get any worse, a long forgotten enemy resurfaces. Sephiroth, Kiyoji’s one-time opponent, has seemingly returned from the grave, ready to wreak his terrible vengeance. Has Kiyoji’s past finally caught up to him?

“Good to see you, Kiyoji.” When he had heard that voice, his heart had sunk. He quickly back-pedaled several yards and assumed a high guard. The man before him had long white hair and a long black trench coat with steal pauldrons. He wielded a 12 foot long zanpakto, Masamune.

“BANKAI!” Kiyoji shouted as lunged forward at his new opponent with Roku Tsurugi in hand. He had easily blocked him while he was still in mid-air. They both landed with blades interlocked.

“How can you still be alive? Answer me, SEPHIROTH!” Kiyoji shouted. He didn’t even acknowledge him; he simple smirked as he repulsed him. He flashed stepped right in front of him, attempting to cut him in half. Kiyoji was barely able to block it because of the speed with which Sephiroth struck.

“Who said you ever killed me?” he replied mockingly. He increased the force behind his blade, throwing Kiyoji through a few pillars. Not allowing him to recover, Sephiroth flashed stepped to him, and skewered him on his sword; lifting him into the air.

“Tell me what you cherish most,” he began to say with great pleasure, “give me the pleasure of taking it away.” He launched him off of the blade, throwing him through another set of pillars. Kiyoji staggered to his feet, assuming a low guard. He lunged at Sephiroth, bringing the full weight of Roku Tsurugi down on him. He easily blocked and forced him into the air. He then followed up by flash stepping before him at delivered a series of strikes. Kiyoji was able to block a few but was skewered several times and was then thrown back to the ground. He has rolled he used the momentum to regain his stance and assumed a high guard. Sephiroth lunged at him, once again attacking with a horizontal swing. Kiyoji moved forward with great speed, flipping over Sephiroth in order to hit him from behind. Sephiroth quickly spun around and caught him at the throat. He kneed him in the stomach and threw him several yards away. Kiyoji tried to muster the strength to get up but could barely stand. The pain in his left arm had increased to the highest intensity it has ever been.

“I don’t get it” he began to say while coughing up blood, “Why are you helping Akatsuki? What do you have to gain?” Sephiroth appeared before him once again, but instead of pressing the advantage he slowly began to walk over to Kiyoji.

“I suppose it will be amusing to see you struggle, to see the expression on your face as you try to figure it out.” He walked closer and closer, all the while Kiyoji’s body went completely limp, the pain in his arm now resonating throughout his entire body. “Damn it, why can’t I move? Move, Damn it…” he said to himself, cursing his own weakness.

“I’ll give you a hint: it has something to do with the wound I gave you on your arm” Sephiroth was now well within striking distance, he drove his sword forward in attempt it drive it through his heart.

“Tsugi no mai, Hakuren” Rukia shouted, intervening in their fight. A wave of ice barreled in on Sephiroth, completely freezing him in a block of ice. Sheathing her sword, Rukia began walking over to Kiyoji. Kiyoji looked on with dismay, realizing what was going to happen next.

“What are you doing?” He yelled at Rukia, “Get away from here!” She had no idea why he was so frantic, until she felt a hand grasping at her throat and hoisting her into the air.

“Please, did you honestly think that would be enough?” Sephiroth remarked. He raised Masamune, was going to run her through with it. He was met with a hail of arrows, forcing him drop her. Between them stood Uryu, Renji, and Saeko.

“I thought I told you to keep watch on Danzo?” Kiyoji said exasperated.

“Sorry, we’re not so good with following orders.” Renji said with a wide smirk,

“BANKAI”. Within seconds, Renji’s sword became a large bone-like snake.

“Hihio Zabimaru”. The trio moved in to surround Sephiroth. In unison, the each executed an attack. Uryu fired a barrage of 1000 arrows. Renji followed up by using Hikōtsu Taihō, a beam of energy erupting from Hihio Zabimaru’s mouth. Saeko made a series of hand signs, culminating in the activation of Lightning Style: Electric Needle Spark. Several bolts of lightning streamed at Sephiroth. The combination of attacks seemed hit their mark, creating a large plume of smoke. With a single motion of his hand, Sephiroth blew away all of the smoke, revealing that he was completely unharmed. In a single swing of his sword he cut all three of them down.

“Pathetic…” Sephiroth muttered as he walked towards Kiyoji and Rukia. Kiyoji stepped forward, assuming a low guard. He charged at Sephiroth, attempting an uppercut. He blocked the attack with relative ease and with greater force; he drove Kiyoji into the ground. He tried getting up but the last of his energy was expended. Sephiroth was about to plunge his sword through Kiyoji but Rukia narrowly blocked the attack with her zanpakto. He then used his sheer strength to throw several feet away. But instead of finishing him off, he began to walk over to Rukia.

“Stay away from her!” Kiyoji shouted at him, “This is between you and me!” Sephiroth ignored him as he continued to move to Rukia. As he got closer, Masamune began to be immersed with reiatsu to the point where it changed from its normal steel color to pitch black. He drove the blade through Rukia’s chest, lifting her off of the ground.

“Do you truly not fear death?” He said to her, while he streamed the energy in the blade into her body. Kiyoji got back on his feet, the pain in his arm dissipating. Whether or not it had to do with his stamina or Tsurugi’s doing, he really didn’t care.

“What the hell are you doing to her?” he shouted, raising his sword at Sephiroth. Within seconds all of the energy in Masamune had been poured into Rukia.

“She seems to be quite close to you, from what I could tell from her thoughts.” He said stoically while setting her onto the ground, “I did the same thing to her as I did to you. It will be interesting to see what happens from here.” She laid there unconscious, whatever process Sephiroth started was taking its course. Kiyoji was enraged by this, not knowing what he had done to her.

“WHAT THE **** IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?” he said whilst charging at him, Tsurugi being channeled with Chidori Nagashi. Just as he was about to lung at him, he disappeared. Sephiroth was startled, for he had completely lost sight of him. He reappeared direct behind him, slicing him across the back. Pressing the advantage, he lunged straight him. Sephiroth spun around and blocked the blow, just barely though. He noticed that Kiyoji’s pupils had changed color, from blue to yellow and that the rest of his eyes were black. He quickly beat him back. Deciding that he should end it quickly, Sephiroth stretched out his palm and began to charge his reiatsu in it. Kiyoji was about to lunge at him when a new spiritual pressure entered the vicinity. A masked figure stood before him, grabbing Sephiroth’s hand and dissipating the energy with one hand and holding Rukia in the other.

“That’s enough, Sephiroth” the man said, “I can’t have you destroy this place now can I?” Sephiroth broke his grasp, annoyed with the order but was still compliant.

“Whatever you say, Madara.” Sephiroth said with disappointment. “Madara? It couldn’t be.” Kiyoji thought to himself.
“That’s impossible, Madara Uchiha died over a hundred years ago.” He declared.

“So they say.” Madara quipped, “Let’s go Sephiroth, your times up.” He sucked him and Rukia into another dimension with what seemed to be a black hole emanating from his mask. Kiyoji stood there, frozen, not knowing what to do next.

“Humph, to bad…” Madara said as he phased himself out. Kiyoji fell to his knees, giving into despair. “Damn it, I couldn’t stop him….I couldn’t save her”. He suddenly detected Madara’s spiritual pressure back at the conference room. He began to hear Tsurugi’s voice, “Get up, you’ll still get a chance yet.” With renewed vigor, he got back up and charged on towards the conference room. As he got closer, he could sense the other Kages minus Danzo were in the room with their bodyguards. But something strange was going on: their pressure wasn’t fluctuating like it would during a battle, it was staying static.

…….

“IT WILL BE A WORLD WITHOUT CONFLICT OR HATRED! THAT IS MY MOON’S EYE PLAN!” Madara proclaimed. Everyone was speechless, whether it was from trying to comprehend the gravity of what Madara just revealed or something else it didn’t matter.

“To Hell with that! I won’t give the world to the likes of you!” Raikage declared.

“That kind of peace would be nothing more than an illusion. Peace only holds meaning if it’s created in reality.” Gaara declared.

“What do you expect us to find in such a world? It would be a world devoid of hope, devoid of dreams! That’s nothing more than running from reality.” the Mizukage stated.

“I would have thought that you Kages would have realized this by now…there is no such thing has Hope. The concept of Hope is nothing more than giving up. The word holds no true meaning.” Madara replied. “Now hand over the remaining two Jinchuriki, or war shall be upon us.” The Raikage was confused by this, the reports had stated that Killer Bee had been captured, but Madara had just confirmed the contrary.

“I will not hand over Naruto Uzumaki.” Gaara declared. The Mizukage and Tsuchikage agreed with him.

“I will not hand over my brother to this man.” The Raikage stated.

“I have the power of the remaining tailed beasts; you have no hope of victory.” Madara stated.

“We will not abandon hope.” Gaara solemnly declared.

“Fine, then I hereby declare the Fourth Ninja War.” Madara declared. Just as the declaration was made, Kiyoji finally made it to the room. He was exhausted; the speed at which he traversed the complex was staggering. After regaining his composure he raised his sword, pointing it menacingly at Madara.

“I’ve just have about enough of your machinations.” Kiyoji stated angrily. Madara began to dissipate again.

“Madara, I swear by the end of this war, I’ll have killed you with my own hands!” he angrily declared.

“We’ll see….”
