Note: This is a Bleach/Naruto crossover. With that in mind his is also my first fanfic so while criticism is welcome, please keep the overtly negative remarks (i.e.:this shit sucks)to a minimum. Thanks for Reading and enjoy.
Naruto: Blades of Fate
Chapter One: The Return
Enter: Konoha during Pain’s Invasion
Konoha in flames! In an effort to set the last phase of his plans in motion Pain and Konan attack the Leaf in order to capture the Kyubi Jinchuriki, Naruto Uzumaki.
The situation was getting desperate. The village was seemingly under attack from all sides. For the Fifth Hokage, things had gotten bad but it wasn’t over, not yet anyway. She had summoned Katsuyu in order to quickly heal those injured while simultaneously communicating with everyone that came in contact with the slug. While she handled the situation as best as anyone could have hoped for, her luck just ran out. For just as she executed her plan, she was corned by Pain…
“It has been awhile Tsunade” Pain proclaimed. Tsunade and the Anbu around her were stunned by his sudden appearance, she felt as though she had seen him before.
“Your….that boy from before” Tsunade said, thinking back to years long past, to her battle with Hanzo the Salamander.
“Who is he?” an ANBU ninja asked perplexed.
“The God that will change this World” Pain proclaimed. “Now, you will tell me where the Kyubi is or I will pass judgment upon you.”
Meanwhile…
While Pain confronts Tsunade, a strange light appears above the village. It wasn’t bright enough to be noticed by the general populace but was noticeable. While guiding some civilians to the safe area, Iruka spotted the anomaly. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that it wasn’t just light; it looked like a…doorway? Just as he was focusing in on the object, he, too, was cornered by the Naraka path of Pain.
“Where is Naruto Uzumaki?” Pain said stoically.
“I don’t know and…” Iruka began to say but was grabbed at the neck by Pain before he could finish. Pain had guessed Iruka wasn’t going to tell him but was going to get the information one way or the other. Behind him appeared the Gedo , the demon that Pain used for interrogation.
“I will ask one once more,” Pain proclaimed “and if you do not answer truthfully you will be punished”.
As expected, Iruka denied any knowledge of Naruto’s whereabouts, so he proceeded to use the Gedo to “judge” Iruka. It seemed that Iruka’s luck had finely run out as his life was being sucked out all the while he continued to stare at the light shining above the village. He had finally gave up when then something strange occurred.
Pain had dropped Iruka for reasons unbeknownst to him. As a gazed up at Pain he noticed that he was impaled by what seemed to be arrows.
“No” Iruka thought to himself, “those couldn’t be arrows.” He was only half right. Upon further inspection he noticed that they were in fact arrows but not in the physical sense. They were made out of pure energy and seconds later dissipated. Then suddenly, a figure stood between him and Pain. The figure appeared to be a young man in his late teens, wearing a pair of glasses and wearing clothes that were entirely white. He held in his right hand what looked like an elaborate bow made out of energy.
“Who….who are you?” Iruka asked. The man ignored the inquiry but instead motioned for a second attack.
“If I was in your position, I would worry more about myself and less about the name of the person trying to save you.” Iruka, taking the hint, got up and began to leave the scene.
“Your foolish for thinking you could stand against me, now I will ask you the same question: Where is Naruto Uzumaki?”.
“Who?” the man replied as he fired off another volley of arrows, this time much larger than the last.
“Last time I checked it was polite to say who you are before asking for anything” the man retorted, “I’ll go first, my name is Uryu Ishida”.
“I am the God of this world and will only ask you one last time: where is…..” Pain was cut off by yet another volley of arrows. He had evaded most if not all of the arrows, but he was still at a disadvantage. With each volley, he was being forced to move farther and farther away from his opponent. Since he had no ranged capabilities what so ever to counter with but luckily, or rather unluckily, Pain had an ace in the hole. Moments later, another figure joined the fray. After finishing another volley, Uryu paused. He noticed that the figure was a young woman but wore a similar cloak that his opponent was wearing and chillingly, had the same piercings, hair color, and had the same set of eyes. Uryu was only momentarily stunned, however, and quickly regained his composure.
“I’m guessing your apart of the same person, right?” Uryu asked, “Seeing as you have the same eyes as this one.”
“Oh, how very astute.” Pain proclaimed, “the only way you could have known that is if you knew about the Rinnegan.” At that moment the smaller Pain formed a couple of hand-signs and thrust it’s right hand into the ground, which was followed by a pillar of smoke. As they smoke cleared, a gigantic wolf appeared. It stood poised to attack.
“Sorry to disappoint, I was simply told that there were six bodies that answered to the name Pain and that you have a bit of a God complex.” Uryu quipped as he fired off another volley at the beast. The wolf was hit with every single arrow but seemed unaffected and belted out a monstrous roar. It lunged at Uryu but due to its size it was clumsy and slow. As he was dodging it, he noticed it also sported the same eyes as its master. Before he could regain his composure, Naraka Pain lunged, with chakra spear in hand, poised to drive in through Uryu’s chest. But before he could make contact, it was blocked by a whip like blade. Pain was taken aback by this sudden development. Before he could react he was met by another interloper.
“ROAR ZABIMARU!” the new figure yelled as he sword resumed its whip like form. He slashed towards Naraka Pain once again. Still mid-dodge, Pain could react but as the blade neared him the summoned wolf moved in between the two, sacrificing itself for its master.
Moments later, Pain regained his composure. He examined the newest interloper. He was a young man that seemed to be in his late teens or early twenties. He wore a black kimono and wore a white bandana that covered his forehand. He had crimson red hair that was arranged in a pony-tail that was strangely reminiscent of a pineapple. Upon closer inspection, his eyebrows were actually very elaborate tattoos.
“Hey idiot,” the man quipped “maybe next time you should actually keep an eye on your opponent.”
“Heh, your one to talk, Renji. I’m guessing since you’re here now that means he finished his training?” Uryu asked.
“It would seem so, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with these two.” Renji replied with a smirk on his face.
Meanwhile…
“Who is he?” an ANBU ninja asked perplexed.
“The God that will change this World” Pain proclaimed. “Now, you will tell me where the Kyubi is or I will pass judgment upon you.”
Pain lunged forward, spear aimed at Tsunade's chest. Suddenly, a massive sword, from out of nowhere, deflects Pain's attack. Reeling from the blow, Pain jumps back to confront the intruders.
Two figures stand side by side. They exchange a word, and the shorter figure goes to Tsunade. Pain looks at the remaining figure, the one whose sword saved the Hokage. The man is tall and clothed entirely in black. His head is tilted forwards, and his expression is intense. His eyes burn blue behind black bangs. He carries a massive blade with his right hand, and his left hand is covered by a long sleeve. Pain's Rinnegan reveals the massive power within this man, and his body tenses. The stranger turns, showing off a Konoha headband attached to his left sleeve. He addresses the Hokage, “It’s certainly been awhile, Lady Tsunade.” The man said. He turns back to the enemy and readies his sword, giving Pain a great view of the strange blade. It seemed composed of many different parts, two blades connected by a steel frame running down its center. Any other man would be struck by the technological marvel, but Pain had one thing on his mind.
“Before you ask, I don’t know where Naruto is, but that is certainly the least of your worries right now.” The man retorted with his sword raised.
“Alright so you answered my first question, since you seem to think you know everything, what else am I going to ask?”
“Well, I really don’t care what else you’re going to ask next but I am going say this: remember this name ‘cause it’s the name of the man that’s going to kill you.”
“Oh, well tell me who this man is, so I can punish him for his arrogance.” Pain responded with great anger.
“The name’s Kiyoji Uchiha, the Leaf’s Great Blade.”
