So, it really doesnt matter what happened throughout the entire manga really, when you call a manga Naruto (the main character's name) you know that this person will be the hero in the end no matter what happens. Unlike say Dragonball, characters die left and right. I never guessed that Gotenks or Gogeta would be the final hero of the show. Thats beacause the writers kept us guessing all along, you had trump cards/wild card all the way, like Vegita, Goku, Piccolo, Gohan and others. You never knew what angle the show would take, and plus the Dragonballs where an extra wild card factor, you never knew if they would come in play. This kind if wrting is very good, brings suspense and is very unpredictable.
Now, in the case of Naruto & Sasuke it really didnt matter i they "died" or not, you knew that that would only bring them back with more powers and asspulls. Naruto would always be "the one" so you never feared for his life. The Deus Ex Machina's has been his best friend all along the series, the same goes for Sasuke. When i think about it, nothing in terms of real storytelling has made Naruto & Sasuke stronger, only Deus Ex Machina.... A manga is a story after all, not a Deus Ex Machina fest...
In the end i guess it's my own fault, what did i excpect when reading a manga called Naruto.
