Naruto Arcs vs Arc

I've seen throughout the forums how some people say that Naruto has different arcs. They may not specifically say it but they do say for example "In the Chunin Exam arc".

I for one think that Naruto is one big arc and everything had to do with each other.

I get where you're coming from with the whole "one big arc" thing.

but i like separating every main part of the storyline with the separate arcs

The one "big" arc you're referring to is called the storyline.

The other "arcs" other people reference are different periods in the storyline, sort of like chapters. Pretty much for the soul purpose of referencing to those periods in the storyline.

Yes, but when people reference these smaller arcs, they actually say the word arc. As it has nothing to do with the overall plot of the story. I could be reading it wrong or they are using it in the wrong context.
