So i've been hearing that this movie is supposedly canon and goes hand in hand with the story. Is this true?

It seems like it's just a cheap way to give SP what they want. I've read the summary and i'm kind of peeved at what they did to Kakashi, Sasuke, and Naruto. I guess that's why I said it was just for SP, who love NH.

In the end neither Kakashi, nor Sasuke got enough screen time, and Naruto ended up being nerfed for God knows what reason.

So do you think it was just for SP?

So then why didn't we get anymore from Kakashi, and arguably the best character of the show? And why the heck did Naruto get nerfed?

Mmm, i'm a litlle disappointed.

I just can't believe Kishi didn't even have the foresight to know that Naruto's nerf would be permanent because of this. Oh well, I guess it's just power anyway.

Yes, it's literally just what was shown in the commercial with Hiashi in the mix. What a waste. I expected more from Kakashi at least.

Naruto never lost anything irreplaceable. His chakra as an entire orb of ying and yang was blasted out of his body and exploded.

Sasuke's role in the movie was the same as in the manga, mixed with that of Itachi; Sasuke helped the protagonists from the shadows like Itachi, but did it seemingly on a whim like his usual character. In other words, despite probably being shown in the movie for a combined time of about 1 minute, he saved the village from destruction, saved EVERYONE on the moon by bringing back the catalyst that would buy them another hour before the raikage blows it up (Hiashi), and subtly chided Kakashi's lack of power in the face of stopping disaster to the village. That is time well spent in my opinion.

The movie is legitimately part of the overall manga plot, though highly focused on Naruto and Hinata's relationship.

The thing is that he never once uses his Rikudou powers. Before, when he fought the puppets, he didn't even need to go Kyuubi mode. Then Toneri takes away chakra and gains Rikudou mode for himself while Naruto fights him with BSM and we've never seen Naruto hold back on his techniques. That's what makes me think he lost his powers.

As for Sasuke, we know he's wandering around too, that doesn't mean we don't want to see him. Knowing is not the same as seeing.

I would like to correct one misunderstanding that you might be having. Toneri never took away Naruto's chakra and took it for himself to gain an Otsutsuki chakra cloak. He literally shot a technique through Naruto which disconnected Naruto's ying and yang chakra from his body, chakra which then blew up with enough force to launch a pillar high into the sky and blast a hole straight through the moon. The chakra was therefore destroyed. We do not know what chakra was destroyed, but it may have just represented Naruto's chakra in general.

Toneri received his cloak purely through Hamura bloodline powers combining (his tenseigan from Hanabi, and his own inherent Otsutsuki body.

It is understandable to want to see Sasuke, and knowing that he is wandering may not be enough, but considering the length of the movie, as well as what was trying to be shown, it should be understood why too much time could not be given to him walking around. The same could be said for other people's favorite characters. Even the rescue mission party consisting of Shikamaru, Sakura, and Sai were relegated to elevated side characters. The movie was about Naruto and Hinata. What is is important is what was done in the little time that the characters received, and for that I say that Sasuke was the best character for the reasons I stated in my previous post. His screen time was ALL spent well.

Looks like the role Sasuke got in this movie was actually good. He defended the leaf from the shadows.

Only Kakashi was aware that Sasuke stopped the meteor. I believe that Sasuke used his rinnegan teleport to transport Hiashi to Kakashi, and get out of the area before anyone else could notice. No one knew what happened except for Kakashi.

Kakashi was the hokage, so he has no action roles. However he did rally the other three kage to convince raikage to hold off destroying the moon for an hour. He also believed that the moon falling was connected to the kidnapping of Hanabi (it was not outright stated to the characters until after they were on the moon.) Kakashi also evacuated the village and stayed behind with select members in an attempt to destroy the meteor, showing a lack of fear in the face of potential destruction. And all this time, when characters questioned why he had faith, he answered simply that it was just his personal intuition (showing how much his words can be taken as truth through his experiences)

Ultimately, Kakashi was a hokage that did not need to fight for himself because all of his subordinates were highly capable.
