Naruto and the fruit from the tree

As you all have seen the intro numerous times, I pose a question due to new found info we got in the latest manga chapter: Is what naruto consumed in the anime intro the fruit from the tree? If so, what benefits could he gain from it?

i'm not sure if Naruto does have any chakra left at all... since the tree sucked all chakra from other shinobis... Naruto might have none left either. therefore i think Naruto might eat the fruit to regain chakra.

I doubt it, the animators shouldn't have known about the fruit until this week like we did, right?

No idea what benefits come from eating the fruit but its gotta be something extremely powerful that will probably put him over his and Obito's current power. That's what I imagine.

What Naruto ate in the intro is meant to be the letter given to him by Iruka. It wouldn't make sense for Naruto to eat the very fruit that caused the world's problems in the first place.

Second, the said fruit has been revealed recently, the opening aired long ago and the anime team and Kishimoto and mostly unrelated and as stated, he ate a paper in the opening.
