Fighting over the title of Hokage just makes it sound like a cockfight. I think that maybe they will fight for the title not as rivals opting for the top spot, but over conflicting ideologies. Maybe something bigger than just the Hokage title will be at stake, like will the other's plans just repeat this whole mess all over again? And then they'll tell each other that the other's way is wrong and they have to be stopped. Something like that might be cool.
Sasuke said that he doesn't care what anyone thinks, so I wonder if that means he's going to try to take the title by force. If he does that could probably be considered a legitimate attack on the village (even though he said he wanted to protect it, but anyways....) Naruto said if he did that he would have to get through him first.
