Naruto and Sasuke shouldnt always be equals...

Naruto and Sasuke are the main rivals in the manga and i understand this helps build up the story in a very good way. however, naruto is the main character and will have to surpass every single shinobi either past or present. With this in mind i believe that the their equality should end at a point in the manga for instance, this war arc. If the manga was entitled Naruto and Sasuke, i would have no complaints but why should a manga mainly about Naruto have another character who will be equal to him until the very end? it doesnt make sense to me. What do you guys think?

Sasuke broke the equal bond long ago.
People say they are equal because of feats but I say they are equal because of Kishi says they are.

They aren't always equal, they go back and forth, currently Naruto is in the lead but at the very beginning of the series Sasuke was stronger and he was also stronger at the beginning of part 2.

They always change which one is stronger... Sasuke started stronger then Naruto took over until the end of part one where Sasuke was stronger.

sasuke remained stronger until Naruto got Sage Mode which probably made them equal... Naruto is currently stronger.

ok, there is too much focus on the powers of the characters (it's not all about power).

naruto and sasuke are RIVALS (fun to watch) always have and always will be, and they are growing.
it's like a race and for a long time sasuke has been a head of naruto (power wise) then naruto caught up to him (mainly in part2) and at a certain point got stronger (when he learned SM) then sasuke got his EMS.

currently naruto has the upper hand (seriously stronger) but it's not over yet (sasuke might still get a power up), for them to have their final fight, they MUST be equal/on the same level, otherwise it will be pointless.

and naruto will officially surpass every shinobi, after his final fight with sasuke.
