He deflected the explosion with the shock wave that the swords emit when swiped. In the scan of him blocking, you can see the swords being moved up, which shows a swiping movement. The swords itself did not tank the tbb. The shock wave from the mountain busting attribute did.

You can create the whipping sound from a stick by moving it back and forth in the radius of like 4 inches...? Or at least I can. Whipping it really hard however makes an extremely loud version of it. Either way, you get the reaction. Madara didn't want the strongest shock wave, he just needed something that would protect him from the blast, which he did.

So you're saying the unstabalized version can't destroy mountains? Why would he speak so highly of them, if he's never used them while he's living. The kage fight would be the first time he's used them. He didn't even bust them out when fighting Hashirama, as Hashirama was never shown the PS.
