ok here is how they stack up

naruto and naruto shippuden

one of the hugest fan bases of any manga or anime to date.
excellent personal story
alot more serious
the characters are excellent
its new aged
excellent story and plot line

dragon ball z and others

a lot more comical relief
characters are god like strong
goku and vegeta inspired kishi's rivalery between naruto and sasuke
helps out kishi alot with his series
one of the top 5 most popular animes and manga
its ending could have been a little better

in a way they are equal because several aspects of dbz are in naruto. they are both very good anime and manga. they both have a amazing fanbase and i would love to see a new dbz series or a reboot
but that will probably never happen
