naruto and hunter x hunter

I´ve seen a lot of people in here saying that kishi got some inspiration from hunter x hunter, in consequence i started watching hunter x hunter anime and so far i don't find it very similar to naruto, let me say first that i have only seen up to the 17 chapter of the anime, the only similarities i find are the shounin exams and the hunter exams and this fat guy that kinda reminds me of kabuto because he's very sketchy.
But i really don't find any major similarities between naruto and hunter x hunter, even if the mains are both naive and never give up, naruto is a fool while gon has natural talent and is very skilled, besides the stories behind hunter x hunter are not so touching as the ones from naruto.

Discuss, try to not spoil hunter x hunter that much for me , keep in mind that i just watched up to the 17 chapter of the anime.

There's similarities and inspirations for sure. That being said, people exaggerate the extent of this, and HxH is guilty of this with regards to DBZ.

the eyes had no powers until a certain point, and im pretty sure kishi showed the sharingan's powers 1st.

Theres a few similarities especially the exams and the Kurapika/Sasuke stuff but aside from that they're nothing alike.

HxH took more from dbz than Naruto did from HxH.
The mangaka respect and inspire each other and transfer these ideas in their own way, nobody is stealing anything

I really don't see it either, only similarities are Scarlet Eyes=Sharingan (only similarity is eye color) and Spider Troupe=Akatsuki (only similarity is they're both terrorist groups), everything else is completely unrelateable.
