[Discussion] Naruto and Harry Potter similar?

hmm....yes and no they are alike. most big popular stories and stuff though have a similar theme...i mean look at all the disney people...very few have parents (jasmine has a dad, so does belle) but most characters have their parents both killed off or not even in the story (cinderella, quasimodo, aladdin, simba etc) actually most all the stories, manga, whatever i have read are absent of at least one parental figure if not both....that particular disney character usually has something to do then to fulfill whatever they need to do to save that kingdom or defeat the bad guy...just a random thing ive noticed....

but these are two great stories from two completely different sides of the tract...but have very similar themes and values taught!

this is stupid, i made a thread about the similarities of ww2 and 4th shinobi world war and it was neg repped galore. there are just as many similiarities there some people cant handle the truth even if the conversation is about fiction, also im a jew and that doesnt offend me. and to the guy that said no sasuke in

True true. going with the parent thing is a pretty safe route to go as most people have parents and can therefor relate to the main character.

To be fair, he did sort of mindrape harry when teaching him to defend against voldemorts mindrape. And they both share the traits of being the bad guys that turned out to be bad for good reasons. and the hair! definately the hair!

snape was training a 15 year old harry. harry was lazy and didnt practice. itachi was plain torturing a small child. and no, snape was a jerk but contrtibuted to the order, ratted out and tried to stop voldemort several times, was genuinely regretful of his mistakes, and had an overall shitty life. itachi chose eveyrthing that was shitty about his life and continued making hismelf and everyone around him miuserable. he wanted to make everyone fear the uchiha clan as a form of "protecting it" which succeeded. itachi was a cruel bully who planned to enslave a teenager for eternity.

Kishi has said that instead of naruto he had another idea of a manga but it was to similar to harry potter and people would think he copied it.

That alone shows he is aware of harry potter.

Well you could easily argue that apart from Lily everything about Snape was dark and evil. Everything that Snape did that wasn't evil was for her. On the other hand Everything Itachi did was to protcect Sasuke, the leaf or his clan. Conclusion Itachi was a good person who did LOTS of bad things. Snape was a bad person who did LOTS of good things.

So although not identical there certainly are a few things they have in common one would be ignorant to not see them.

snape was influenced by lily but he chose to help out people not named harry for little reason other than he had the chance to do some good like when he tried to blast a death eater before the death eater could kill george. and when he did everything he possibly could to adhere to dumbledore's orders and agree to kill him before the curse does. he offered to do the unbreakable vow to help out draco which again had nothing to do with lily. itachi did nothing to help or protect anyone but himself. the reasons why he wants to help people are loyalty to sasuke and the leaf but he did nothing to ACTUALLY help them besides mass genocide and mental torture which in the long run didnt do anything good. the butchering of uchiha clan is brutal insane and horrible. he slaughtered children and shoved a sword in his mothers chest. show me snape killing kids and shoving a sword in his mothers chest. he did nothing to even slow akatsuki down defeating the purpose of why he joined them in the first place and obeyed all of pains orders without question. even though members have gone against pain and killed their own partners scot free (kakuzu). the torture of sasuke and corrupting of his mind is injust, unjustifiable and unbelievably brutal. he didnt just torture him, he taunted him, made him feel like shit, broke his wrist, ordered him to murder people for power and slammed his head against a wall. again show me snape doing the equivalent or worse.
itachi tried to enslave a (as far as he knows) innocent boy to serve danzo, two old crotetchy hags and a drunk for the rest of his life. itachi tortured and ordered the attempted killing of kakashi for no reason at all. itachi stood back and did nothing as his partner was inches away from cutting narutos legs off. again i point you to snape trying to stop his fellow death eater from blowing george away. and as for itachi acting for the leafs benefit, taking down their greatest fighter at the time and putting him in a coma then ordering the attempted murder of the next two strongest, is not helping anything. letting orochimaru go when he could have killed him in self defence is not helping anyone especially the thousands of victims orochimaru butchered.
threatening konoha with high treason for one little boys sake is damaging and traitorous
withholding vital intel about akatsuki and the uchiha clan from hiruzen is damaging and traitorous
and itachi didnt have an ounce of regret or empathy for naruto and the whole ordering his execution at sasukes hands, even smiling at the thought of forcing two friends to battle to the death
ensured sasuke would believe tobis story and placed amaterasu in him. without that, showinghis tears to sasuke post genocide and apologising to sasuke, sasuke would have dismissed tobis story as bullshit

I don't think you'd come up with so much without reading the last half of the Deathly Hallows, i.e. the last half of the last arc... When you hate someone so strongly, it must be assumed that you know every aspect of their behaviour till the end of the story. I do not think I know everything of Itachi's role in the affairs of Akatsuki, Konoha and intelligence leaks to Jiraiya, may be you do... Therefore, I would not argue with you.

OT: Yes, I see a lot of similarities all the time... that makes me think Orochimaru would be the final villain.
