I don't know...he does have all of the common shonen manga hero traits. He's not unlikeable and i'd like to argue he's a very original and interesting character but the more and more I think about it the more I realise that he kinda IS a mary sue. Almost as much as Minato.

Pretty much everyone in the manga are d-riding him as if he is a God and his ideals are materials of worshipping.

I don't think he is perfect; but he is changing anyone he encounters with few simplistic words of interpretaion of fairy tale ideals and "not giving up". No one gives up, even Shino is not giving up; why would it became something so speacial when Naruto does not give up? I don't think he is perfect (not at all); but appearantly; a good deal of shinobi world sees him as a material to be worshipped.

Well perhaps your not considering the fact that He kinda saved thousands of asses which also adds to the collective admiration gets .... Most people think this way ... 'OMG He saved me, and he talks nice too ... Gotta love him.'

Not mention most of u dont realize how important fairy tale ideals are .... They are important because they are nearly never achievable ... and since they are not achievable, strong willed people will keep trying and keep improving untill their last breath .... Or else If a easily achievable ideal is taken, when its finished there is nearly no chance of improvement ... and things that dont change with time dont last. (IF people never thought to reach the star itself and aimed for gliding a few meteres above the ground then we might not have had the moon landing)
