As you all know, Kishi knows his fanbase, and he know he can dodge them anytime he wants. He even know when to give them what he wants - he just has to look in his bank account recent activities. Well, he left us this week with a pretty interesting panel showing Sasuke with a chidori and Naruto having a look at his face. Here, it is very important to consider the state of mind of both characters, and how great a job Kishi did in the chapter:

I. State of mind of Sasuke and Naruto

1. Sasuke is no more a revolutionar, but an uchiha

As of 697, Sasuke is actually showing that his only goal is to prove he is the strongest, the inheritor of the clan that he consider the most blessed, and those who should be the winner. I have been saying this, that his revolution was simply a disguise of his deep feeling - that is the frustration of the entire Indra bloodline at failing always before the Senju. I also believe Sasuke is the only reincarnation to have attained the power of Indra at its maximum as he thought his arrow named after Indra would win.

2. Naruto - the bloodless shinobi

On the other hand, Kishi has kept Naruto a plain fighter, a shinobi without any ancestral link. Kishi showed us that Naruto is Ashura's reincarnation, but then, Naruto has power only to protect his friends. Most people wants to know what Naruto's power really is because even after power-up, the greatest feats he shows are new cloaks without any jutsu. This facts leave his fanbase with expectation while pissing off those who think he should lose battle. However, as far as Naruto is concerned, he seems to know everything and not even moved by whatever Sasuke does.

Naruto also needs to free the tailed beast from CT, and free them from Sasuke's genjutsus.

II.2. Sasuke 's Objectives

It can be summarized in one phrases: Kill everything that can stand in his way to dictatorship starting with Naruto.

Now, I can say that so far, in this battle, we have seen Sasuke trying to achieve his goal relentlessly. We could also say that by standing his ground, Naruto is trying to achieve his goal, but if Naruto where to achieve is goal only by beating Sasuke, then would it not be like imposing his rule to Sasuke?

Normally, I would coin many possibilities for the next chapters, but they are all conflicting based on the above facts. However, I will list them, and let you judge according to the above.

II. Chapter 698 possibilities

II.1. Naruto make Sasuke believe he killed him

First, let us know that Naruto is not going to die. Thus, in the last panel, Naruto can be a clone or something else he created to look like himself. After Sasuke kill that representation, I believe he will have a new emotional burst. The problem is to know if such emotion can turn Sasuke good again? Aslo, is this kind of solution a humanly relate-able solution? Honestly, I think changing through remorse is not really changing because remorse can be wash away. Besides, what will happen with the next reincarnation of Ashura? Will he always accept to be less than himself so that Indra can be good?

Thus, I believe this is not a solution.

II.2. Naruto will not kill Sasuke, just has he will not die.

This is obvious. Naruto will not kill Sasuke, because he promised he will bring him back. Also, we know that this is the last fight between Sasuke and Naruto. Thus, Naruto is going to complete his mission concerning Sasuke. This led me to believe that Naruto will not die either at Sasuke's end. Besides, during the whole fight, the statement from Naruto suggested that he was holding back, that he would never engage in attack that could kill Sasuke, that he would only make his attack match Sasuke as long as Sasuke is out of his mind. Therefore, I still think Naruto has still more power in store, and is just acting.

II.2. No more Chidori vs Rasengan clash

This is what I think, and I think I am tired of this kind of redundancy. Thus, I am only waiting for Sasuke to stab Naruto or whatever it really is, with his very last chidori. After he stab Naruto, we will have a plot twist here, and this is where Naruto's turn of this battle st

II.3. Naruto's response to Sasuke

As you have seen, Sasuke has said many thing to Naruto since the battle began. From becoming the shadow to reverting back to being Uchiha, Sasuke has been trying to establish himself through every single bit of his power. On the other hand, Naruto has been enduring all these bullshit even when it make him look like a stupid dog. This two roles has been played and rendered powerfully by Kishi. Thus, I think Naruto has something big coming up. He is not going to do a huge attack on Sasuke. However, he will show to Sasuke that he had the potential to do such attack all along, and he did not use it. This will be the perfect setting for Sasuke's conversion to the side of the Will of Fire.

Well.
Considering Naruto and Sasuke have been linked to Hashirama and Madara.
Naruto may do the same thing Hashirama did. Sasuke is in the same state of mind that Madara was in, kill my opponent, then understimates him, because he believes he has a slight upperhand.
