Naruto 669: The Flames That Never Die
(Thoughts/Actions)
{Scenery}
Gai- Ensuring that fresh leaves bud and usher in a new spring. That is the climax of the Springtime of Youth!! That is when it burns its deepest crimson red!! (Night Elephant!!)
{First scene shows Gai with the eighth gate’s red aura in front of Madara}
Gai- Now I will show you what the Springtime of Youth is capable of in its full bloom.
{Shows Gai engaging Madara in an exchange of hand to hand combat. Unlike the seventh gate, this time Madara is not able to dodge and counter all of Gai’s taijutsu taking several hits}
Madara-(I need to take care of him quickly before this gets out of hand!)
{Madara is seen attempting to block a kick from Gai with his staff but the pure force of the kick sends Madara back several feet}
Madara- Damn! Where did he go? (This is not good even with the advanced perception of Hashirama’s sage mode and my own visual prowess I can only just manage to keep up with him)
{Scene shows Madara shocked when he senses Gai behind him, but when he tries to counter Gai moves so fast that there is only an afterimage}
{Gai appears in front of Madara landing a powerful uppercut on Madara which launches him into the air}
Gai- Now Taste the power of the Flames of Youth!! Morning Peacock!!
{Gai’s arms are shown as a blur as dozens of super-heated punches from the Morning Peacock are aimed at Madara knocking him further in the air}
{Gai is shown jumping straight into the air and a panel shows Gai parallel with Madara through the use of Dancing Leaf Shadow}
Gai- This is for Neji! Afternoon Tiger!!
{Panel shows the blood red Afternoon Tiger several times larger than the one performed in the seventh gate}
{Madara tries to resist the force of the Afternoon Tiger but is shot back down to the ground. The black balls form a shield behind Madara cushioning his fall. A massive cloud of dust forms from the blast}
Lee-(amazed) Incredible! Gai-sensei was able to combine all three of those moves into the perfect combination.
Kakashi-(sad but with a smile) In the end Gai, it looks like you are the one who came out on top in our rivalry matches.
Minato- (Gai if your father could see you now I’m sure he would be very proud of the man you’ve become.)
Gaara- I can’t believe how fast Gai is that he is able to land multiple blows on someone of Madara’s level.
{Scene switches to the Alliance vs. Spiral Zetsu}
{Several shinobi see the cloud of dust in the distance and even Spiral looks mildly interested}
Spiral Zetsu- I can’t believe that anyone would be stupid enough to challenge Madara-sama in his current form.
Cloud Shinobi- What in the world could have caused that?
Rock Shinobi- We really are out of our league here.
Mist Shinobi- There’s no way we can win against such powerful enemies.
{Shows Hiruzen with a look of recognition on his face}
Hiruzen- Was Gai forced into releasing the last gate?
Spiral Zetsu- No matter what any of you do no one will be able to defeat Madara-sama now that he is the Juubi’s Jinchuuriki.
{Shows Ay and Tsunade as well as the members of teams 8 and 10 with shocked expressions}
Ay/Tsunade- Then that means that Bee/Naruto have had their bijuu extracted.
Tsunade- (solemn) The result of a tailed beast extraction is death!
Shikamaru- (We need to stop this Zetsu guy so we can go to Naruto’s aid. I need to think of something) Ino, I have a plan! Please connect me to everyone once again.
Ino-(with look of concentration) Yes go ahead!!
{The alliance is shown acknowledging the mental link}
Shikamaru- Everyone up till now Naruto and Bee-san have helped us tremendously during the war. Without their aid, we would never have been able to survive thus far. They never gave up on us, so we can’t give up them. We need to pool our remaining strength together to defeat this enemy. Now everyone listen up…
{The alliance members are now shown full of determination to defeat Spiral Zetsu and go to the aid of their fallen comrades}
{Scene goes back to Madara vs. Gai}
{Madara slowly stands up and begins to dust himself off with no visible injury on his body}
Madara- I have to admit that you took me by surprise, but that will not be happening again.
Gai-(smiles) You don’t understand do you? Even if I fail to defeat or even injure you, I will still have protected those who are important to me and my Flames of Youth will burn their brightest.
Madara-(annoyed) You speak so much about your Youth but in the end the Flames you speak of will fade into nothing but dull embers that are extinguished by the wind. All that awaits you is your eminent failure and death.
(Gai remembers his conversation in the hospital with his father)
Dai- Do you know what a true victory is? It’s not beating someone strong. It’s being able to protect something important to you!
(End Flashback)
Gai- That may be true. My next attack will very well be my last but remember that even a dull ember can spark a mighty flame. And I will be the one to ensure that those new flames have a chance to flourish during their Springtime of Youth. (makes a seal) Evening Elephant!!

{Scene switches to Taka, Orochimaru and Kabuto}
Kabuto- Orochimaru-sama is that?
Orochimaru- Yes that energy is no doubt coming from the opening of the eighth gate. Kabuto how long will it take Sasuke-kun to recover?
Kabuto-(pensive) With the injection of my modified Hashirama cells into Sasuke, it should take about five minutes for him to make a full recovery and the cells to fully integrate into his system.
Karin-(relieved) I can feel Sasuke’s chakra slowly increasing in strength.
{Scene switches to Obito, Sakura, and Naruto}
Obito- The sealing is complete and luckily I was able to seal a small piece of the one-tail and eight-tails chakra into Naruto as well. That should be able to help when you have to face Madara.
Sakura-(smiles) His heart is beating on its own now, and he is breathing too.
{Sakura removes her hand from Naruto’s body and begins to seal the incision with medical ninjutsu}
Sakura-(sincerely) Thank you Obito!
Obito-(with regret) It’s the least that I can do after everything I’ve done. (But there is one more thing I can do to help)
{Panel shows Obito’s hand reaching up to his face}
