good thread, and I think the people like this pairing because sakura loves Sasuke and no one ever wants to be the fallback guy... Plus it is impossible for a guy to get out of the friend-zone .

she's a horrible example , risking her life ? ... i really dont remember if she ever did , but you have to agree that hinatas sacrifices are more of a example then sakura's
She can't sacrifice her life for naruto cause she is a medic ninja. if she sacrifice her life to naruto she can save one life only. but if she stay allive she can save more than one including naruto. That's the duty of medic ninja.

my thing though is if Naruto is the major key to winning the war if Naruto dies then everyone dies so then wouldnt it be logical that if sakura "did" truely love him, that she would go against what she has been taught to save him. That is what true love would do. they would do what ever they could to protect the ones they love

LOLOL i like the part about the ones jumping infront of him to protect eventually become so precious to him i just noticed that as well lolol. Kudos for that ++++++ rep

Yes i am a naruhina fan and i'm not saying that because i dislike sakura or anything. Like mist females in this novel she just kinda sucks and yes hinata included in that. Temari, konan, kushina and mei are the ones i really see as the best females in the series. Why am i rooting for naruhinata because she liked him nah loved him at the start when he was a loser. I know sakura finally sees his worth now, but that precisely why i don't want her ending up with the guy. I have a soft spot for hinata since she is a shy person and finally becoming aggressive and trying to get her love.

This is true.

However, my major criticism of Sakura's character is that she often locks up when she should be acting.

We call this "the black" in the military. It's in relation to the color-coded stress response illustrations we are given as training aids. Green is casual, relaxed, no heightened alertness (for sentries, this is not a desirable state). Yellow is heightened awareness/alertness. Orange gets into your physiological responses - adrenal response, etc. These two conditions are expected during most operations. Red is when your judgment begins to waiver, you begin to develop tunnel vision, and other undesirable but manageable/recoverable responses to stress.

Black - what Sakura often displays - is when you shut down due to a lack of training, preparation, etc. You freeze when you should be acting on near-instinct. Or, in some cases, you completely black out and commit to actions you will not have a memory of later.

Now, -should- she choose to sacrifice herself for Naruto? That's really a pretty hefty question. Obviously, he's one of the characters that's carrying the alliance, right now. It's safe to say that a lot of the others are there merely to create the opening for him to apply the ridiculous amount of power he has to the problem. If he's about to suffer an injury that she cannot heal - the mission comes first, and the mission does not appear to be possible to complete without Naruto. It can, however, be completed without her.

But no one can really be -blamed- for choosing self-preservation. It's a natural instinct. What I can be critical of Sakura on, though, is that she freezes when presented with these types of situations - and she needs to act one way or the other (in self preservation or in self-sacrifice). Failing to act can just as easily get both parties killed - and that does absolutely no good.

It's a problem that Kakashi should have noticed early on and worked to address. It's a problem Tsunade should have seen and worked to address (and if it couldn't be resolved - pull her from the front lines; her medical expertise is probably much better utilized at a fully staffed and supplied medical facility). The way she's been acting, however, has not given me much indication that she is cut out for front-line service.

But we'll see how things play out.

Honestly, I hope to see Sakura make some strides forward in regards to character. Though I still don't see NaruSaku in the future.
