Off the top of your head, how many books, games, or television shows have you seen where the main protagonist ends up with a side character and not the main Heroine/Hero?

I'm only asking that since almost everything i've read watched or played usually has a set relationship dynamic that pretty much lets you know who will end up with whom.

Hero gets the (main)girl and shit like that.

Not enough side characters winning or tragedies imo(Or even a platonic relationship with no pursuit into romance at all).


Maybe i'm playing and reading the wrong stuff....

Ah that's the question though. Is Sakura the main heroine of Naruto? She's only prevalent because she's on Naruto's team. However she has no storyline, no arc and no stakes in the final outcome of the series.

I never had any thoughts of Bulma ending up with Goku. I didn't see their relationship like that.
