Chapter 2: Dictator
Leaping about as a flash of yellow and red, no one could really see him.
He knocked one out with a punch and grabbed his wrists, swinging him about and knocking three others into a tree.
He drew a warp hole seal in the ground with his foot (a simple eddy) as one aimed a punch at him from behind, slipping through the soil like water and pulling in the attacker with him.
The enemy shot out of a tree trunk via a second seal, head butting one guy in the stomach and knocking him into another.
Naruto rolled out to avoid the shower of kunai and ducked behind another tree, drawing a reflect seal on his palm in blood. He swatted the kunai away like flies hopping to the treetops, and landing safely on a thick branch. There, he formed the two finger spar sign and made a slicing motion.
Below, the ground turned to mud and water, sucking the men into a whirlpool.
He retrieved the seal stone, throwing it and catching it over and over.
"Whoo!" Tsuna applauded him from the tree tops before hopping down himself.
"Partner," he looped an arm around Naruto's neck and butted their heads together, "You're awesome!"
Naruto punched his palm. "I know right? I must have defeated like a hundred guys this time!"
"I think your stone is looking a little full." Tsuna pointed at it.
Naruto rolled it around on his palm without touching it. He was right. It was dark purple, and seemed a little heavy.
"They're all criminals who crossed the line." Naruto pocketed it. "I'll sell them to the nearest bounty hunter I see. How's yours?"
Tsuna shook his head. "Seto smashed it."
Naruto stopped cold. "What?!"
Tsuna shoved his hands in his pockets. "He said that my reports had led him to some information, and one of the guys
I captured was from Suna, the grandson of some guy who hated the Uzumaki clan."
Naruto grabbed his shoulders and shook him. "But you were only hunting bandits and low ranked ex-samurai! And you poured so much life energy into making that seal stone! This is bogus!"
Tsuna tried to laugh it off. "Don't worry, I can just make another! No need to get into trouble over me!"
Naruto gripped Tsuna's shoulders and glared at the ground. How dare he...
He turned and marched off.
"Stop partner! You know he can't be reasoned with!"
"I don't care!"
They argued all the way back to the hideout, and all the way to Seto's room.
Naruto threw the door open to see Uri, Seto, Mami, and Yuuki in a meeting.
The Uzumaki adults were mostly in their fifties or over a hundred. Good instincts and the curse helped Naruto guess their ages.
Uri was around fifty, and an heir from the main line. He was Naruto's fuinjutsu mentor.
Yuuki was beautiful and kind, able to conceal her chakra.
Naruto called Mami "sexual harassment girl." She was beautiful but insidious, and incredibly strong. Too many times, she'd pinned him down with the body paralysis seal and kissed him, on and off the mouth. They were obviously related in some way, but traditional clan law decreed outer-clan relations forbidden.
Seto was the sovereign head of the family, and controlled everything. He was cruel, vicious, and envious of the five great nations. For some reason he'd been out to get both Naruto and Uri since they'd arrived.
He could have just banished them, so why didn't he? Wait, that wasn't the point.
Naruto placed himself in front of Seto, who sat with one leg folded over the other, and a fist supporting his tilted head.
"Yes?" He asked, apathetic and displeased as usual.
"Did you smash Tsuna's seal stone?"
"... Did I? I'm not sure it happened the way you think."
"Enlighten me." Naruto spat.
Tsuna placed a hand on his shoulder. "It’s fine! Let’s just go. Besides, you promised to play with Kairi and the others."
Naruto brushed his hand off.
"Is it true or not?"
Seto stared up blankly at him.
"It's true." He sneered. "My hand slipped."
Milliseconds later he was on the ground, cheek bruised and hair blown to one side. Uri had Naruto in a headlock and was dragging him out of the room, but not before Mami sent another one of her evil, flirty looks his way. Seto, however, glared bloody murder.
"Half-blood..." He growled as Tsuna shut the door.
Yuuki was at his side, taking Naruto's face in her hands and stroking a cut on his cheek with her thumb.
"He drew blood, but you knocked him to the ground." She said, summing it up.
"Naruto you need to stop this." Uri turned him around. "You cannot challenge Seto."
"What do you want me to do?!" He demanded. "Take it all lying down? He's torturing us! He's running us ragged and trying to start a war with one of the five great nations! We've only got fifty surviving Uzumaki here, and ten of them are children!"
Yuuki nodded. "We won't let it come to that. So keep your distance."
Naruto shook free of them.
"How do you two plan on doing that when you bow to his every whim?"
They didn't know what to say, so Naruto finally let Tsuna drag him away.
"Aniki!"
Kairi and Momo launched into his arms, while Rika, Mina, Aoi, and Koa latched onto his knees and ankles. The other
four, Sora, Luna, Midori and Akane, attacked Tsuna.
Naruto hugged Kairi and Momo with one arm, reaching down to pet the other kids' heads.
"Where were you?" Kairi piped. "We were worried you ran off to the arena again!"
Naruto shook his head. "I just got in another fight is all."
"Is that why your face is bleeding?"
Naruto wiped his cheek on his shoulder. "Yeah; cool, huh? Only a scratch!"
"Aniki is stupid!" Sora squeaked. "Bleeding is bad!"
"Bad." Rika agreed.
"Bad!" Luna chirped.
Naruto bonked them all over the head.
"Ow!" They cried in unison.
"I know bleeding is bad!" Naruto yelled. "I was just saying that since it’s just a scratch we should all be grateful."
Kairi hugged him, as did the others.
"Everybody loves you!" She told him, making him blush.
He exchanged looks of doubt with Tsuna.
That was untrue. Some of the veterans, including Seto, despised Naruto.
Marriage outside the clan was forbidden. But they were dying out, and if some of their own came back to them with children who were only half Uzumaki, who could complain? Not that Naruto knew either of his parents.
Half-blood...
He squeezed his eyes shut. What would happen to these kids if Seto succeeded in picking a fight with those great powers?
Hugging Kairi and Momo tightly, his resolution was clear.
"I love you guys too."
And I swear to protect you.
P.S. Guess I'm a little slow with the romance. :dunno: Don't worry I'm getting there! Hahaha (awkward laugh).
