This is probably an illusion that expression of the face of Gowther and pg 28 makes me believe so.

Also we saw that black hole power of Mel in the extra chapter and him eliminating Kingdom of Danafor. Galan also noted how Mel has became much more weaker even at his power of 10k which means he is much stronger. Also he loses himself whenever he uses his demonic power and Galan can't easily destroy the perfect cube but repel Mel's powers so something is amiss.

man, i'm glad melodias continues to be described as a shell of his former self because that means we haven't seen anything close to his full power.

so mel defected huh? makes sense. fell in love w/ a human (or goddess) she was most likely a goddess or apostle to be correct since her eyes covered like elizabeths & decided to leave the 10 commandments. he was probably the former captain, and the DK is prob his pops.
