what made the namikaze's a special clan to have to make naruto use the surname uzumaki? where they holding some type of special technique or just minato being a target?
naruto used uzumaki because he didint know he was a namikaze he didint know who his dad was remember
But didn't the 3rd hokage say minato was a target so if naruto was given the namikaze name he would become a target as well?

thats true also but naruto still didint know who his dad was
This exactly.
I dont think it had much to do with the namikaze clan but minato himself. Since he was the hokage he could of had many enemies from other nations that would assasinate his son for revenge or something.
It doesn't have to be a clan. Maybe it's just a family name.
