You are mixing things up. Username Change Events stopped being held since Premium was introduced and the name changes were permanently in the manner that you have the intention of using this name as 'your name' till you have another chance to change it.
Now the only way you can change your name is via premium or winning a contest that has as prize a name change. Mods however can change their names whenever they want
There are no such things as 'name change events' these days. Premiums can change their names whenever they want as long as their Premium is active, but each time they change their name it has the intention of being their name. Mods don't do this, name change events don't exist and we don't participate in it. What we do however is that from time to time we host 'mod events', which is simply an event where the staff customizes themselves based on a theme, but these events are always temporary (1-2 weeks) and after that everything is reversed back to normal. There was never any intention of making those name changes, which are only part of the mod event, into or real NB names. Regular members don't participate in mod events.
So no there is no reason to do what you suggested. If you don't want to lose your name, don't change it. Mod events by default mean that we keep onto our original names.
