Nagato's intelligence is underestimated

I believe that Nagato's intelligence is really underestimated in NB. Maybe cuz Itachi saw the weakness of CT and hit him with totsuka, many people here think Nagato is an idiot when he fights, and i don't know why.

First of all, you must notice that when Nagato was fighting against Itachi, Naruto and Bee, he wasn't the one to control himself. It was Kabuto who took decisions to do this and that, and he doesn't know Nagato's full potentiel. Proof is that he didn't even knew that Nagato was a sensor.

Also, what makes me believe Nagato is really smart in battle as well is his fights against Jiraya and against Kakashi.

- Against Jiraya he saw through his genjutsu, and outsmarted him by summoning some Paths before attacking him from forward so that Jiraya could drop his guard and finish him of from behind. It's what fukasaku says here:

He says clearly: "He must have summoned them before we caught them in our genjutsu"
And this is when Pain(Nagato) noticed the genjutsu:

He says: "Is it genjutsu?" But he let himself caught by the genjutsu on purpose to take advantage of it later when Jiraya drops his guard. So this is an example of good strategy he did against Jiraya.

- Against Kakashi, when Asura got hit by Choji and Choza, he left Asura on the ground on purpose(as if he was dead), so that the ennemy could not notice him(but he was still there looking all what was happening), and could interven when it's necessary. This type of strategy could work against almost everybody.

So no, Nagato is really smart in battle too. He is not only an overpowered opponent, but also someone who fights with his head. So don't underestimate his strategies in battle. :noc:

That is not using your brain. However, it works in some situations, but not all. Especially when facing a difficult opponent. It also waste a lot of chakra in the process.

From reading your post his battles strategies remind me of naruto's and how he does things with clones. But anyway I always thought he had average intelligence but with the rinnegan made him very powerful.

Nagato is underrated on almost everything. Some say that Minato can beat him. He might, but Nagato has the upper hand. I don't know why people underrate Nagato.
