[Predictions] Nagato's Character Development. What is Kishimoto Doing?

Ok... this is a speculation thread about what will happen with nagato... after all this flashback mess...

Nagato is getting alot of character development right now... that much is obvious... and kishi is doing it in such a way so that people start to empathize with Him and his past.

There are 2 possible outcomes of the current situation...

1. Nagato Lives
2. Nagato Dies

If Nagato Lives, then the character development might be there to make the readers feel bad for him. If this is true it could possibly start his transformation from enemy to an ally for Naruto.

If Nagato Dies then that means that all the character development has been a last minute send off... kind of like how most people in the series get flashbacks on their life before dying...

Although i really dont like it i think that Nagato might live...

Most likely he will become an Ally.


Naruto is the one who's suppose to break this chain of hatred. He suppose to be the one who will revolutionize the Ninja world.


Currently, it's an eye for an eye. But if Naruto is able to forgive the very one who just destroy his parent and kill his master, then work with him, he will prove to Nagato that hatred can be overcome.

This will create a revolution in the ninja world. People will take example on what Naruto did (cause u can't get more then that! Forgiving the one men who destroyed everything in ur life!).

This is his destiny.

You guys are acting like Konoha will be able to forgive Pain.

Don't forget that Neji is on his way, and will probably try and kill Pain or get himself killed.

I don't think naruto can kill Pain, however as renegade said...an ally? After he just wiped out almost the entire village? That's insane. I mean I would love for it to happen since pain is a great character in my eyes. But I just don't see Kishi trying to pull that one.

I think Naruto will "understand" pain, the others will arrive, Naruto will beg them not to kill Pain. Pain will be shocked that Naruto is defending him and die from all the strain the battle put on him, not by anyones hand. Before he dies, Pain, after seeing naruto's forgiveness, will tell Khonan that, that is the right path. Konan will live on and become a distant ally for Naruto.

I really hope I'm wrong though and pain does ally with Naruto and live. With J-man gone, Naruto could use some insanely skilled cover when he goes into battle.

Nagato needs dead bodies to use his 6 paths of Pain, and this definitely would be frowned upon if he were to be a good guy. No way a good Pain can use dead bodies.

it's possible to forgive nagato, but it's NOT possible to forgive what he's done to konoha and his comrades. he doesn't have to fight in revenge to do what is right. nagato has done terrible things because he is twisted by hate. his actions cannot go unpunished.

i think that is a possibility bc in kishi's interview it said that one person from akatski would become allies before the ark is over and kishi is telling us pains life story now so i think that makes the possibility of it being pain even greater.... alot of people think it will be sasuke but i dont think that will happen in this ark

Don't forget Khonan. It is very likely that after Pain "sees the light," she could change sides and be the ally Kishi spoke of. But Pain being a welcomed ally after all he did? Those people from Konoha would have to take saintly forgiveness to a whole new level.

i to think it will be khonan. i think after nagato sees the light he will die from his injuries

Yea i agree. I've said the same thing in a few other "What will happen with Pain and Naruto" threads.

I think that after Nagato finishes with his backstory that Naruto will feel kinda bad for him and Naruto definitley won't kill him.

Naruto will then give his answer for peace to Nagato, which i believe will be something like "I don't know if true peace can ever be attained, but I, Naruto Uzumaki, will do everything I can to bring peace to every person I can, but by helping them, not destroying them! The pervy sage believed peace was possible, and so do I. I never give up, and I never go back on my word, because that's MY ninja way! BELIEVE IT!!!!"

(After all the times he's said it in the past I think it would be a horrible shame for him not to do the "I never give up...." catch phrase. We hav'nt seen it too much lately so I have to think it'll come up here lol)

Then Nagato, knowing he's close to death from using too much chakra, will decide to trust bringing peace to the world to Naruto and then die peacefully. Konan will then try to continue trying to make Nagato's dream of attaining peace for the ninja world by joining Naruto. (The rest of Konoha does'nt really know about Konan, so I think as long as she gets rid of the Akatsuki outfit she'll be ok.)

Another reason I think it will Konan is that in many other anime and TV shows I've watched, whenever a "bad guy" joins the "good side"...its never anyone very powerful, and they normally end up dead at the end of the next big battle. So I think Konan's useful-ness will be in giving information on Akatsuki, such as their hideout, the Bijuu statue, Tobi, and Sasuke.

Though it would be cool if it was Nagato that joined them...I just don't think it will anyone very powerful, otherwise it would take a little away from the Naruto and Sasuke thing if they do happen to team up against Tobi (which I think they will). Adding another powerhouse to the fight would just seem like a bit too much in my opinion.

Yeah, exactly shadow. That is probably the biggest reason it wont happen. The good guys always need to be underdogs to build the supsense for each part of the manga against whomever the enemy may be. If someone as insanely powerful as Pain were to be on their side, it kind of takes away from that underdog feeling with each new battle. "Boy this is going bad, but I'm sure pain can just come in and kill them all if worst comes to worst."

I don't think that's an attitude Kishi wants his readers to have, it takes away from the desperation of any situation.

However, if he chooses to do it, I suppose he could away with it like he did with J-man. J-man was a crazy powerful ally to naruto but he was always gone "investigating," so he didn't just make all the fights easy wins since he was known to never be around. I suppose Kishi could maintain suspense by always having Pain searching for the remaining Akatsuki or something and therefore almost never being there to help, like J-man.
