Probably because they can keep on fighting until the chakra rods are taken out. They can even come back to life too if the rods are still in. Not to mention, they can walk.

He let his emotions get the best of them. There is no way he could have killed them all without it and he needed to avenge yahiko, but yes it was stupid, he just acted on impulse

Using 6path in 1 body is harder, need more chakra.
He can not walk, run...
When you see 6 of them you will confuse about that and you will start to say dafaq?
You can not die, your path maybe defeated but your enemy couldnt kill you
Best part is vision is connected so you have 12 eye. better than 2. no blind spot
but Sure 6 path in 1 body is better
