Would Nagato have to know/study the revived person for said revived person to be effective in battle ? Or could he allow them to have free will at will..?

I'm pretty sure no freewill is allowed, but case I'm mistaken...?

Also, suppose (theoretically) someone alive survived rod implants... Would they then be controlled like the tailed beasts...? And be out thru hella beat downs like Pain, and survive...? (find that idea farfetch'd lol). There are some Narutoverse players that can withstand pain (so to speak) ...from said rod implantation... So... ...

Edit: oh! And... Theoretically speaking, what if someone were revived with the Rinnigan, and THEN became an Edo... (some odd mishmash of the two techniques ...

But... First we gotta get some intel on if Rinnigan can revive those that had there souls sealed...

Nagato doesnt need to study a dead person to be effective in battle. Once the chakra rods are planted then he is free to use the paths of the Rinnegan, hence Six Paths of Pain. He merely needs a body vessel.

As for planting chakra rods on someone alive then its the case of whether Nagato can overcome your own chakra in order to control you. He failed to control Naruto because the Kyuubi's chakra was far stronger (and sinister?) than his own I believe.

They wouldn't withstand what the Pains withstood. Only because they would be living humans with rods in them and not dead with rods in them.

I know that, as am sure most do - it was a theoretical, lol. Also updated my OP:

"oh! And... Theoretically speaking, what if someone were revived with the Rinnigan, and THEN became an Edo... (some odd mishmash of the two techniques ...
