the only complication is that wood isn't a pure element like fire or water. Perhaps preta path can absorb the chakra out of mokuton, but would that make the wood disintegrate at well?

If not, then the force of the mokuton would still go through, such as the Shin Suusentu's punch. Sort of get what I'm saying? It's hard to explain.

These are all various DB entries about Mokuton. It isn't simply an elemental combination otherwise Hashirama's cells wouldn't be needed to use it. Mokuton is created by Hashirama using his life force to activate roots and seeds in the ground which creates trees.

Mokuton=Life. Real trees. Preta isn't absorbing that.

The best he can hope for is to absorb the chakra out of it but the wood would still smash him, as for Shinsuusenju. If he tried to absorb something that large that is fueled with Senjutsu charka, he could probably turn to stone.

you didn't understand what I meant.

Wood is solid, but it's imbued with chakra.

If you suck the chakra out of the wood, the wood would most likely turn to a lifeless wood. Meaning the wood would still physically exist, only without a chakra element.

So if the Hashirama throws say a log at Nagato, and Nagato would absorb the chakra from the wood using preta path, the shell of the wood would still hit Nagato.

Again, this is not fact, just hypothetical since there is no evidence to suggest otherwise. However, if this is the case, then Hashirama could win.
