Nagato knew Madara and Tobi

Obito says here that "he betrayed us" talking about Nagato:

So it means that Nagato knew them right? Since he says he betrayed them, so it means they probably had a deal when Madara was still alive, but Nagato betrayed them. Probably Madara left Obito to watch Nagatos movements or something like that

And now that i think about it, when Nagato and Itachi were together, Nagato asked him "how much did you know about Akatsuki?"

It shows that Nagato was actually hiding a secret when he was acting as the Akatsuki leader

It seemed they were all in on it although Nagato had his own plans while Madara successfully convinced/manipulated Obito into going along with his plan

Madara expected Nagato to be there and being shocked/saddened by his betrayal suggested Madara was close to him in my opinion and was part of there little mastermind group

Like he says "he thought he knew more, but...". The but here is to say that he realised there are things he didn't knew that Nagato knew, so something to say that Nagato knew more than him
