To both of you, without an armistice, the countries involved do not have a reason to stop fighting. More often than not, the armistice allows for compromise and a "be all end all". I guarantee you without the armistice there would still be fighting between the countries. To put this in a Naruto perspective, Nagato's attacks on the shinobi countries would just prolong the "Cycle of Hatred", true to the mannerisms of war in real life. You need a declaration of peace to (temporarily) halt fighting and attempt to promote peace between countries.

if all we needed was an armistice then why did we drop the bombs? Nagato would force the shinobi world to peace through total war with super weapons, its the same exact ****ing thing.

Nagato wanted peace, but, like Madara and Obito's, his plan was a false peace, this one being built on terror and destruction. He'll cause the same suffering that was inflicted upon him, and in the end, it probably won't change a thing in the grand scheme of things.

Sure, total peace is a noble goal, but you can't achieve that by nuking someone and attempting to scare everyone into standing still. Because it would mean that Humanity can only be calmed down by holding a giant, loaded gun at it :p

it would change, people don't want to get bombed, so they won't fight. Japan didn't want to get bombed, so they gave up. its extremely simple

To both of you, without an armistice, the countries involved do not have a reason to stop fighting. Oftentimes leaders do not consider peace until they compose a treaty/armistice/what-have-you. More often than not, the armistice allows for compromise and a "be all end all". I guarantee you without the armistice there would still be fighting between the countries. And why did they sign the armistice? Because of the bombings. If the bombings hadn't occurred, there wouldn't have been a reason for the armistice, and thus the war wouldn't have ended. The bombings caused them to sign the armistice which caused the end of the war. Again, it's the same as saying "This bullet to the brain doesn't kill you, it's severe damage to the brain that kills you."

an armistice is just a piece of paper, the piece of paper isn't going to jump out of nowhere if countries want to fight and give them paper cuts into submission. It's just an official statement that people are SUPPOSED to follow, just like kids are supposed to not smoke weed or drink alcohol or have ***. The real reason the war ended was fear.

But in the end, it's still a fake peace, and a brief one, as Nagato admit.

It's effective, sure, but there's no truth in a peace by menace. Especially because it'll stop as soon as said menace is gone.

Well yeah, but outside of a Shounen Manga, it's the most realistic peace.

A character like Naruto has to be thrown 700 chapters worth of plot to create true peace. And even that is still temporary for the same reasons Nagato's is.

The difference is that Nagato's fear-inducing weapon is reusable by anyone willing to use it, while Naruto's peace stems from him alone, and will be gone forever once he dies, unless someone can create a new peace entirely from scratch.

A lot of manga and anime are covertly telling the story of the atomic bomb and mutually assured destruction. Tailed beasts were atomic bombs

Indeed. We're living in peace because we have giant weapons of destruction pointed at each others :p

I see your point and Nagato isn't insane; however, most of the time using violence to try to end violence only creates more violence.
