Nagato is originally weak

We now know that Nagatos Rinnengan is not even his Rinnengan. It means that originally Nagato has nothing maybe besides from his chakra since he is Uzumaki. He only got the chance that Madara gave him his eyes. But what would he have been without Rinnengan? No techniques since every of his techniques come from his Rinnengan, come from what Madara gave to him.

Maybe he would be close to Ebisu level

He was still an Uzumaki and had massive chakra reserves. He had plenty of potential to be strong. We have know idea how he would have grown without the Rinnegan.

We have no clue how strong he would have been and this is like saying if madara never awaken his Sharingan he would be weak. He had it and he's top 5 without a dobut.

Like someone said Nagato is still an Uzumaki so large chakra....oh and this is the thing tjat has made me so mad about these last chapters. Oh resurrect a boss Uchiha...ok seems legit. Nope....let's give him the Rinnegan...surely not OP. Even better, let's take away what made Nagato unique and take away his childhood story of unlocking it as his parents were killed JUST to make an Uchiha who isn't a monster already look even more powerful and manipulative....It's sad how they made Nagato into a joke.

OT: yes...now Nagato is a joke. But he still would have been strong due to chakra reserves

I agree. Not wit the Ebisu part but he isn't anything special in his own right. Atleast not yet. Maybe when we learn more about the uzumakis we can attribute him with something original. Personally the only thing I credit him is being a good sensor ninja. That and having a lot of chakra. That's it

Actually I find the whole Obito being weak thing sort of odd. He was considered weak but yet he graduated ninja academy at 9 and became a chunin at age 11, while all of the Konoha 12, including Naruto and Sasuke, graduated the academy at age 12.
