This argument is a fail.

Why would Tobi wait until after Itachi died before sending Nagato to attack Konoha? If he were easily stronger than Itachi, Tobi could have just ordered him(Tobi was the real mastermind of Akatsuki, he was using Nagato like a pawn) to attack nonetheless. Obviously, the consequences of going against Itachi's wishes were just too much for him.

So no, Nagato does'nt beat Itachi easy. In fact, it'll be the toughest fight of his life.

I think it's a little offensive to say Itachi is in anyway > a healthy Nagato aside from intelligence. If Nagato was healthy, and he was to face Itachi, he would absolutely destroy him.

- It has been noted at several points in time that Nagato possessed an unusually large amount of exceptionally strong chakra; Itachi certainly does not.
- He mastered all five basic nature transformations, something that was completely unprecedented.
- Shinra Tensei
- Chibaku Tensei
- Gedo Mazo and its soul dragon
- Asura Path and its fire power
- Human Path can take Itachi's soul
- Naraka Path and king of hell
- Animal Path and its summons
- Naruto even noted that since he was using his real body, the strength and speed of his techniques were on a much higher level than when it was Pain.

Don't even bring up the time when Itachi sealed Nagato because even a blind man can see that that was PLOT-NO-JUTSU.

Nagato is clearly stronger than Itachi.

Itachi was the one who was always taking orders from the leader of akatsuki NAGATO. And if Itachi was really that strong than why didn't he kill Nagato to disband akatsuki instead of keeping an eye on aktsuki. It clearly implies that Itachi was inferiro to Nagato.

It is like the same as Madara once said he fought Hashirama only to obtain his dna. If Madara was really that strong then he could kill Hashirama, get Hashirama's corpse and obtain infinite supply of hashirama's dna...

Itachi is smarter, yes. But Nagato simply has too many techniques for Itachi to gain an upper hand. The best Itachi can do is catch Nagato off-guard and use the Sword of Totsuka. Nagato basically has his own Sword of Totsuka.

Yeah, I agree that in a non Edo fight (without Naruto/Bee being there), Nagato would probably win. Itachi is pretty good at finding weakspots though, so I think it would be with high difficulty.
