Nagato in the same pool as Itachi?..or maybe worse

I was going back through the jiraiya vs pain chapters and came across something i totally forgot about.

Now first things first, we all know the psychopath known as itachi. The slayer of women, children, and even grand parents. Some people view this differently as seen in threads about this topic. But my question today is who's worse? Itachi or Nagato?

Nagato did the more cruel thing but what Itachi had to do was worse in the sense that it was more difficult for someone to kill their direct family members and all relatives but one.

Reviving Yahiko isn't the point. Just like Obito could have revived Rin, seeing them dying opened their eyes to the flaws of the system.

Their goal wasn't to bring back the dead, but to ensure the the future of the living.

but evidence to what Obito said indicate that he would have died either way.

If he wouldn't, it would be a pretty big plothole that I doubt Kishi would miss. It's pretty obvious

Well I can't say I was too happy with the decision either, but I don't think it's hard to believe.

Nagato wanted revenge and lived his life in darkness. After a while, it will get tiresome and Naruto words inspired him to move on and redeem himself.

I'm pretty sure Nagato knew deep inside what he was doing was wrong, but just didn't want to admit it to himself until he met Naruto.

but when it comes to 17 y.o kid who just kept on blabbering i will do what my master said me.
The same master who would have KILLED nagato in Amegakure for the sake of safety of HIS OWN village
If Nagato knew he was doing wrong and did those things either way with excuse his freind died he is in same pool as itachi if not worse.
