All he did was follow Danzo's orders.

Nagato and Sausage had the power and both failed. It had nothing to do with power.

The theme of the god awful story that is Naruto is that unity triumphs all. Itachi broke the fourth wall and realized Kishi's bullshit.

Nagato was manipulated by obito. Much of his plan came from Obito and madara. While you could say itachi got a lot of his way of thinking from shisui he was also a genius. I see itachi as more intelligent than nagato , he seemed much less naive.

It wasn't just Naruto, it was all of the people that he cooperated with too. I suppose it was just Naruto in a way as without him it wouldn't have happened, but my point was that it was everyone over all that helped make that change. Actually, it was Kaguya, BZ, Obito, and Madara too, if you look at things. :skorm:

That doesn't really matter. Itachi realized that power wasn't the only thing needed for the entire Shinobi world to unite. Nagato's plan involved mostly subjugation and make war like collateral damage; go to war, get blown up by "super weapon" (which turned out to be the Juubi). That only goes so far as to create a false version of peace which doesn't have people understand each other. Itachi knew that he couldn't do it alone, even though he tried to at first. That's why he acknowledged his failures to Sasuke and Kabuto during that fight. It was also the reasoning behind what he said to Naruto. Naruto was trying to single-handedly win the war with all of those clones going to each company. It initially exhausted him, which prompted Itachi to lecture him on such. People don't want someone who does everything on their own without help. It's natural human nature to be drawn to others who are outgoing and who want to include people in their plans/ideas. That's why Itachi led Naruto down that path and that's why Naruto wanted to bring Sasuke back so badly. His ideals were doomed to fail and continue the curse. Only by cooperating would they be able to find some kind of peace or tranquility knowing that said tranquility is a by-product of mutual understanding between people and is "real".
