Nagato - Gedo mazo

I don't really understand why when nagato used Gedo mazo, he get hurt by those sticks,..

Read this thread, I've already covered it in the first section.

It has little to no chakra on it's own, it has to be fed chakra by some means. Be it sealing chakra in it like Tobi is doing or connecting it to an external chakra source (like Nagato), it doesn't matter.

Gedo Mazo needs chakra, since nothing was stored he take it from Nagato trough those sticks.
