Even in the anime, the fire isnt black. Anyways, hashirama can regenerate so quickly that it has made him invulnerable so he probably wouldn't care. Thats why Madara says hes the only one that can defeat him, in which he has. The only possible way to defeat Hashi is to exhaust his chakra.
