Ok for starters I would like to point out myself that this is clearly a far fetched hypothetical, and should be discussed accordingly.
The three of their stories and motives all tie in together so perfectly ( Nagato, Itachi, and Jariaya )
Itachi- his motives are clearly in support of the greater good, helping sasuke, and also protecting kohona. He is the biggest hindrance to my plan due to the fact that all he really cares about is sasuke in the end. However I feel that if Itachi would have tried to stay alive and save sasuke.in a different way his plan would have worked better.
Nagato- he also wishes for a peaceful world but learns near his death that he goes about it in the wrong way. Now in my opinion his final act was one of reconciliation, which is admirable but I feel like if let's say instead of saving everybody he only saves 3/4 of e people who died. I believe that it he did that he would still be alive today.
Jariaya- he obviously has good intentions and I feel that if he would have withdrawn from the battle at the last second he still would have survived and naruto still would have been able to beat pain only this time naruto would have had man's help.
Now on to the plot scenario,we are all familiar with the order of their deaths. Now being that Itachi was the last to die you have to remember what Jariaya's plan was in the first place and that was to pursuit the akatski. Now let's say Nagato teams up with Jariaya due to the fact that he basically started the organization. They eventually bump into Itachi and learn about his motives to save sasuke from himself. So that's just going to be a filler no jutsu episode explaining how they can all work together to achieve the same goal and to redesign themselves, all except Jariaya, so that the can all go on to live happily ever after.
In all seriousness though... Best trio ever?
