Basic Information

Name: Mystogan
Nickname: Evil Eye
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Clan: Nekura

Looks:
Mystogan is a fit young man with fair skin and bright blue hair. He often keeps his identity concealed to the point that his unique outfit has become his identity, wearing multiple layers of robes over his body and bandages across his arms legs, and torso. He keeps a bandana over his brightly-colored hair and a dark green scarf covering a majority of his face. Across his back Mystogan has five different staffs strung - one topped with a skull, one ending in a large eye-pattern, one topped with a fan, one with three prongs at one end causing it to resemble a trident, and a traditional Shakujo. All except the Shakujo were cared by his own hands during his journey with Adachi. Beneath his many layers of clothing, Mystogan hides a head of messy spiked hair. Over his right eye is the Mark of the Demon, a brand signifying the clan to which he belongs.

Personality:
Mystogan is a quiet and reserved person. Though he prefers to keep to himself, his mentor's optimistic look on life left a small impression on him to the point that he wants to see good done in the world, even if only to repay Adachi for their kindness. He tries to do good and stop others from inflicting unnecessary pain on those lesser than themselves. When tapping into the Nekura's wellspring of vile power, the demonic chakra begins to corrupt and twist his personality, becoming more malicious and seeking to dole out his judgements on the people around him.

Background Info

History:
Mystogan, along with his twin brother Jellal, was born on a small island north of O'Uzu Island. It was a last refuge of sorts for their father, an outcast who was driven away from his clan. For the first six years of his life, Mystogan lived happily in a secluded part of this island with only his mother, father, and brother as human interaction. But good things cannot last.

While Mystogan was sparring with his brother, a group of men arrived at the southern shore of the family's home by boat. Curious, Mystogan tried to get a better view but was ushered away by his mother. She took both him and Jellal off towards the trees as his father went out to speak to the men. The situation grew more violent, Mystogan's mother began to usher the boys through the island's dense woodland and away from the incident. Sounds of the men giving chase followed behind, but the small family knew the woods intimately and made it to the northern shore before their pursuers could catch up. Rain fell upon them as the family set said towards the larger island in the north. The continued moving inland, doing everything they could to put distance between themselves and the slowly-growing group of men at the other shore.

Temple of the Twelve Rings: Mystogan's mother ran with her sons late into the night before collapsing in exhaustion. The three of them rested for the night under a simple earthen shelter to keep out of the rain. In the morning the boys' mother went on her own to find anything they could eat while Mystogan and his brother were to remain in the shelter and away from danger. After a few hours, Mystogan's hunger grew too intense, and so he looked out to see what was beyond their shelter that the night had hidden from them. Though their mother was nowhere to be found, Mystogan did see a large building at the edge of the horizon. Leaving his brother, who stayed behind to continue waiting for their mother, Mystogan walked for half a day across the plains to reach the temple. Curious about the young child who appeared all alone, the monks using the temple as their monastery ushered him in and fed him.

Mystogan spent the next nine years of his life as a disciple of the monastery, working with the monks to distill high quality wines and preserve knowledge by copying down the contents of rare tomes and scrolls that the monks had managed to collect. It was the only life he knew now that the fates of the rest of his family were unknown, but it was a life he was content to live as they continued to feed and clothe him. In addition to his daily chores as a monk of the Temple of the Twelve Rings, Mystogan would do what he could to join the martial practices in the temple's dojo. It took more than a year of persistence before he was allowed to join and properly train his body and skills in weaponry. It was a long process, but as he trained Mystogan's body grew stronger and his skills improved greatly from his time of simple sparring with his brother. Wielding the monks' staves was one of the few times Mystogan thought back to his family, whom he had abandoned for the security and stability offered by the temple.

At the age of fifteen Mystogan had learned the essence of an ancient fighting style, Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu. It was his first steps towards properly molding and learning about chakra, and he was eager to put his all into mastering the techniques shown to him. But as his proficiency in the style grew, and he developed a more mature well of chakra in his being, something awakened within him. The monastery began to divide itself as strange happenings occurred - monks going mad, screaming in pain with no visible injuries. Mystogan would lose track of time - minutes, sometimes even hours became unaccounted for for the child on some days, and he couldn't understand why. It wasn't until his full power manifested and the Mark of the Demon fully formed over his eye that any suspicion placed on the adolescent Mystogan were turned to full accusations. Without explanation or compassion, the residents of the monastery began calling Mystogan "Evil Eye" and ushered him out of the temple. Despite his pleas to stay Mystogan was forced out, told to leave, and beaten to the point of bruising when he tried to force his way back inside. Turning his back on the doors that had taken him in years before, Mystogan began to wander across the empty plains on his own, pulling his tunic up over his head as protection from the rain.

A True Mentor: Mystogan was on his own for a little more than two weeks - probably. He had the occasional black-out moment as he continued to train by himself, attempting to master the art of the Shakujo shown to him by the monks. He was forced to hunt for his own food, feeling lucky to find a rabbit for meat as most of his meals consisted of food taken from others' fields. It was depressing for the young man to be all alone, force to rely solely on his wits and the one material item he still had for himself. He found that most farms and villages would offer a day or two's stay because he was so young and on his own, but mostly he didn't want to stick around. He had tried being a farmhand once since the monastery, and it ended just like the with monks - madness, screaming, and accusations that he was the cause. Walking to open pastures, Mystogan fell on his back, staring up at the few white clouds passing by overhead before closing his eyes to contemplate where he could possibly go from there.

Then someone tried to awaken Mystogan from his rest. Sitting up with a sigh, the boy was ready to continue moving on so as to not bother another farmer or shepherd, but instead found a friendly looking face - very different from those who would demand he "make himself useful or scram". The person helped Mystogan to his feet and asked what the boy was doing in the middle of nowhere all alone. After a few attempts to get away and continue his life on his own, each of which was quickly and surprisingly stopped by the friendly face, Mystogan began inquiring back towards the person. Calling themselves Adachi, they explained the journey of discovery that they had gone on, seeking to discover their purpose in life, as well as truly focus their skills as a shinobi. And the greatest way to surpass oneself was to teach. Thinking the offer was too good to be true, Mystogan attempted to refuse, both concerned that this Adachi might be aiming to harm him, but also concerned that whatever was happening to the people around him might affect them. But just as when he attempted to leave, Adachi refused to take 'no' for an answer, and continued to insist that there was something special about their meeting until Mystogan had another black-out episode.

When he awoke sometime later, laying on the grass without his Shakujo, Mystogan immediately sat up and looked around. Sitting behind him, perched on a rock with his ringed staff in the crook of their arm, was Adachi. The shinobi held two mugs of steaming coffee, offering one to the boy as though nothing had happened. Concerned that the madness that seemed to stem from him was connected to his black-outs, Mystogan began to ask if anyone was hurt before Adachi interrupted him, saying that if the boy would join their journey, no one would have to get hurt again. He had a gift, as the ninja called it, and the ability to mold chakra was not so commonplace that such a talent should be ignored. Wanting to be able to control whatever it was within him, Mystogan agreed to become the disciple of Adachi and join them on a journey of self-discovery and training.

For nearly five years Mystogan traveled the world with Adachi, visiting various locations and climates to get in touch with the primal power he was learning to channel - deserts to feel the sting of the wind, mountains to learn the strength of the earth, and volcanoes to experience the intensity and heat contained beneath the earth's surface. But the ability that enamored Mystogan more than any other was the power of illusions. Adachi used it to show Mystogan targets and enemies to practice against without expending excess energy or risking harm to the limited resources the pair had, but every instances made him want to learn more and more. As their time together continued, and Mystogan's experience and range of abilities grew, he began to experience fewer black-outs, instead feeling a throbbing head-ache-like pain around the brand over his eye. Adachi would often leave for a day or two when this pain came, encouraging him to explore the extent of his chakra with the pain and try to unlock "abilities I cannot show you". It was confusing and cryptic, and Mystogan didn't understand much of it, but he knew that he was happy whenever his mentor returned, even if he found no such abilities.

A New World: On his twenty-first birthday, Mystogan awoke to the sound of rain and a small note strapped to a large scroll. The note explained that Adachi had nothing left to teach him - everything else was for him to discover on his own - and so the shinobi continued on their journey. The note was joyous, encouraging, and carefree, just as his mentor had been all the years that they had been together, but it was still sad never-the-less. The scroll was a parting gift, a contract to summon the majestic bird Condor. The instructions for how to use it were clear and concise, just as Adachi's trainings had always been, but it wasn't something Mystogan wanted to accept. He was upset, angry, saddened all at once. He felt betrayed, like he wasn't even worth a proper good-bye, even though Adachi left this way because they were not great with good-byes and wanted to ensure that Mystogan started a new journey on his own. As all these conflicting emotions coursed within his body, the Mark of the Demon surged in pain before portals as dark as the night sky opened around him and began pouring foul chakra all around him. The power of the Nekura clan - a group of monsters masquarading as men, who had "adopted" his father in an intensely painful ritual, who then passed the demonic power down to his son - truly awakened within Mystogan, a power he could feel and command more than just become subject to its whims as he had been his entire life. Though the rain poured on the world around him, Mystogan finally found the power that had haunted him his entire life, and was ready to begin the journey to fully conquer it.

  • A straight chokuto sword with no hilt or guard hidden in the center prong of a trident-like staff.
  • A Shakujo.
  • A fan-headed staff (used for Fan techniques).
  • A staff topped with a decorative eye pattern.
  • A staff topped with a skull. Embedded into the back of the skull is a small scroll with a small spike placed just above it. By turning the scroll to the appropriate seal, and then dragging his thumb down the spike so as to draw blood onto the seal, Mystogan is able to summon weapons for specific Ninjutsu techniques that require weapons summoned from a scroll such as "Summoning: Iron Protection Wall" or "Manipulated Tools: Weapon Gun".

Thought it was a custom dojutsu at first heh. Where do you start in the NW? Maybe our paths might cross >_O
I have a very small fraction of a clue as to how the new NW works, so I have no idea where I'm starting. But I don't think I'll actually start until the next Arc, just to keep things clean. Might start early if it looks viable to get a good amount of missions in, though.

Start mission, save kumi, get yang.... then make stuff created from nekura jutsu sentient and have true dominion over all life 🤔

You get a kumi increase for missions this arc tho, for which you can but rp abilities. Then its also the choice of a clan, if you want to join an existing one or create one.

I do like that idea. I want Kin as well for Kabuto, but Y/Y's been on my radar for a while. Also, that sounds like an absurd combination.

Wait, really? Guess I should get to missioning. It's basically writing a story on my own using my bio and maybe some NPC's to accomplish "Story Elements" from the rule thread, right? An excuse to write as much as humanly possible and then force someone to read it?
No idea what to do for clans. I'll let that just happen naturally during RP.

Insane combos are the best

As for missions you want to aim to meet the criteria. If you spent 1000 words describing the setting you can lose points and fail the mission. Have a look through some mission submissions and you’ll get an idea for criteria. It in doubt send me a pm and I’ll help you out bud

Yeah.. +20% bonus kumi. Yes, you can also make custom story elements(tho im very fuzzy about how that works..). A and S rank missions also have a chance to generate pretty powerful artifacts that can be used by your bio. You can fight npc’s yeah.
Do that, i made a clan straight up and claimed moon isle xD.
