Well no technique is perfect and at the same time, quiet a lot of high level techniques are overrated so this is nothing new.
I agree with all of what you have said, but you got 2 things twisted.

Its true that, for ms itachi will need to activate it from base sharingan.
However he can activate the ms from the start, like he did against sasuke. In that case he eludes closing his eyes for tsukuyomi. [ ]

Secondly yes Tsukuyomi is short range, but you underestimate the range.

Dunnot about you, but these are healthy ranges ^^^

Thank you. I didn't actually notice the second but people ignoring the first really frustrates me sometimes.

Itachi's my favourite character and I'm fed up with every thread (even ones which have no relevance to Itachi) becoming 'and instant defeat thanks to mangekyou'. It actually seems to say some people think that an Itachi without mangekyou would never win against a strong opponent, which has been demonstrated to be a ridiculous assertion. (Before anyone jumps on that I said strong not strongest.)

Part of the reason Itachi and Minato are my favourite characters is because they don't require insane props to be strong. (I don't consider base sharingan to be any more insane than most clan techniques, bloodline or not.) Also that they take what they have and use it to maximum effect. And that they're not content with strong, they keep pushing themselves past their own limits. After all, Minato isn't that fast and Itachi isn't that good with thrown weapons because they were born that way.
