Since some people thought it was interesting, I posted this as reply in a thread.

Have fun, or something.

My two cents:

Rinnegan= Eye of Samsara. All Buddhist related themes. SO6P = Lord of six realms. Deva for instance is god, asura is demi-god, etc.
Sharingan=Copy wheel eye
Mangekyou= Caleidoscope(a caleidoscope as in the Bhavachakra-wheel of life-, perhaps, look it up)

The sharingan has three tomoes. The wheel of life has three pictures in the middle: ignorance, HATRED and greed(something most Uchiha's are based on) this causes suffering. Most of the suffering in NV could have stopped with Hasi and Madara becoming buddies.

Next is the downfall, or uprise, the chains. Downfall unlocks Mangekyou, the possibility to see, to escape

Next is the rinnegan. Samsara's eye. The six realms. Six paths.

Next is Juubi's eye. The 12 steps of everything that arises in existence, and perishes.

Juubi has one eye, three rings, nine tomoes.
One as in oneness of all.
Three rings: birth-life-death
nine tomoes: every step in between, including the three equals twelve. Cycle of existence.

A sage in Buddhism is often one that practices meditation, oneness with nature/all. Mastery of all that is in the wheel of life gets you to Nirvana. Flawlessness. The sage tamed the Juubi because ALL BEINGS bow down to the one who is fully enlightened. He teaches how the wheel is turned.

The wheel turner, or Buddha, brings a gift. In this case ninjutsu. The historical Buddha gave the gift of teaching how to escape samsara, but you might as well say that with(out) this knowledge, the opposite is given as well. The historical Buddha did not want to teach at first, knowing very well that the knowledge he knew might be inconceivable for other human beings. As the story goes, gods insisted on teaching, or the world would be lost.

And so he did find a way to teach THE way out.

The Sage can be considered a wheel turner, and his gift NINJUTSU. Ninjutsu is the teaching, the road to Sage mode. The way for another wheel turner to arise: Naruto.

In Japan they have a bit of a habit to melt Buddism with Shintoism and make stories of their own. This is all speculations, so flame if you like, since it seems to be people's favorite fuel, but like I said, my two cents. But seriously: enlightened beings can end up as protectors of prostitutes and talisman against smallpox(no kidding).

All Uchiha not satisfied with their position in Konoha and ready for the coup.

Point being... the Hatred is the thing that keeps them going... ah, nevermind.

Or food, food keeps them going too. If the had cars, that would keep them going too.

I think this is an awesome thread, and if these youngsters don't wanna know then forget em. It's funny how a lot of Naruto ties into Japanese culture, folklore, and religion. Kishimoto puts a lot of these aspects in the series. This is actually one of the best threads I've ever read here at Narutobase. It's not your typical whose better, vs., or let me prove this wrong, or hate on Kishimoto thread. You seriously had to do some deep thinking to write this one. Mad props, and *****.
