My top Hokage list

** I posted this thread in the VS section, but i'd like to share it in disscussions aswell, to get more feedback ( i really like reading comments lol)


This is how i would rank the Hokage. It's fine to disagree, but please, say why. Otherwise, what's the point?

1.Hashirama (Obviously)
God of Shinobi, has Mokuton and Sage Mode. Was the leader of the Senju clan, founder of Konoha and Madara Uchiha's rival, and the only person who (according to the man himself) can beat Madara.
Has Shinsuusenju (Does a counter for it even exist? maybe Madara's meteors?) and Wood dragon, which can absorb someones chakra .

Number 2-4 is so debateable, and these three are all very strong and versatile, but this is my opinion.

2. Minato. Saved the village, was called the child of prophecy. And other nations had a flee on sight order if they were to spot him during the war.
His skills, and choice in jutsu are very similar to the second hokage. The reason as to why i put Minato above Tobirama,is mainly because his more versatile FTG, and Rasengan. I think people don't see how well Rasengan fits into Minato's fighting style...It doesn't require any seals, can be formed with one hand, and is pretty much former instantly (as seen in the Tobi fight).
If we are taking all forms of any of these characters in to consideration, BM Minato is obviously a force to be reckoned with.

3.Tobirama .
Creator of various jutsu, including FTG,Edo tensei, Kage Bunshin. He is very similar to Minato, with his quick reactions,and similar fighting style. His Senju heritage granting him a lot of endurance and chakra, the strength of his chakra being very strong,cracking a wall as his chakra flows through it.

I feel that him and Minato are basically equal, Tobirama being a bit more clear headed during battle (all tho this can be attributed to Minato being shocked after the Obito reveal.), as seen during the Juubi revival arc.
Minato's Rasengan and improved FTG refines his fighting style. And that's why i put him above Tobirama.

And now for the last two, Sarutobi and Tsunade.
** He did kept up with Minato while Minato was in KCM, i give him that. These 2 are close and hard to rank!

4.Sarutobi.
The reason as to why i put him above Tsunade is that he has yet to go all out in battle. From what has been seen, and from the hype he has recived, i rank him above Tsunade in a 1v1 scenario.

He has great mastery over all forms of Shinobi combat. He was said to have been able to use all the jutsu that exists within the Konoha (excluding KKG stuff). I want to rank him equally with Tobirama, but he isn't as strong in his old form.

Both Tsunade and Hiruzen are sometimes both underrated and overrated. I WANT to belive that he was as strong in his prime as the hype suggests...only time can tell..allthough if Kishi doesn't give him any more feats soon we will never know. The reason as to why he i think he can beat Tsunade is because of Enma. Enma is by feat/hype vertually unbreakable.

5. Tsunade

I think that she is strong and underrated (sometimes overrated), but i don't see her beating any of the other Hokage in a 1v1 (possibly Old, non edo Hiruzen. Yeah, she can most likely beat old Hiruzen from pt1, but not any other form of him IMO)

I will say that she is a lot more valuable when being paired up with other people, than fighting alone. Because of her great ability to keep others alive.

Don't underrate her, she is the strongest (physically) ninja this far, One of thouse characters who is VERY hard to kill.
I just think that her overall style is slow(ish) and she hasn't shown any (from what i can remember) Long range technique. Oh and she has Katsuyu..Probably the strongest most versatile summon.
I just don't see her dealing with the speed of Minato and Tobirama, the brute force of Enma...and she obviously stands no chance against Mokuton.

I wish i could include more pictures in this thread... i'm just to big of a NB noob to figure it out

I place Tobirama and Minato as equals more or less. If I had to make one better than the other I would give it to Tobirama because his vast power with water jutsu and having Senju caliber chakra

While Hiruzen has not technically shown any fighting prowess above what Tsunade has shown, he is highly thought of and we've heard what a formidable opponent he used to be. While we do not technically know how good his best really is, you have to remember we've only seen him as an old man.

Tsunade has essentially been in her prime throughout the entire anime. We've seen her hit her limit. Her usefulness in the position of Hokage is arguably better than Hiruzen as she can mass heal her entire Village. Something any Kage would benefit from. But in a 1 vs 1 fight of Prime Hiruzen vs Prime Tsunade... Tsunade has no ranged jutsu, Hiruzen could summon Enma and double team her while Katsuya would just offer some evasion/heal support at best. Hiruzen and Enma could at least wear her down with combo attacks. And let's face it, if there's one thing Hiruzen has, it's a ton of jutsu and the knowledge to know how to use them. Tsunade can punch/kick/heal herself/others.

My personal opinion.
1. Hashirama Senju. Breaking out of Edo Tensei shows his might to be superior to every Hokage and has shown have massive scale techniques. 1000 Hand Statue, Moukton and fighting with Madara for 24 hours is extremely dangerous and just a few of his frighting feats. He also posses the ability to tame all of the Tailed Beasts like little pets. His battle with Madara has even made a water fall called the Valley of the End. He is the 2nd man to share the title God Of Shinobi along the Sage making him no joke. His strength is constantly called a fairy tail by many. His Sage Mode is beast and is able to bind the almighty Ten Tails. His Chakra is able to crack the areas around him which is a testament to his strength. His prowess is shown when he fought EMS Madara and Kurama at the same time and won like a champ.

2. Hiruzen Sarutobi. Trusted by both Hashirama Senju and Tobirama Senju to lead the village for the next coming generations. He is constantly stated as a Genius, Professor and God Of Shinobi. He is the longest reigning Hokage who knows and is able to use all the non KKG techniques of the village making him deadly. Having this kind of knowledge possibly includes the ability and use of all 5 elements to a godly level and mastery of techniques such as Shadow Imitation, Mind Body Switch and the Multi Size Technique which can all be single handedly used by Kage Bunshins granting him the ability to counter almost any technique. Hiruzen also displays the ability to Neutralize Jutsus as seen when he as stopped Orochimaru's 3rd coffin from appearing making the opponent open for attack. Hiruzen also has a neat trick to Kage Bunshin multiply 1000 human sized Shurikens in an instant to overwhelm the opponent. Similar to Hashirama, Hiruzen's is able to crack the areas around him with his strong Chakra. Combine it with a long time trusted summon named Enma that can turn into a staff the cannot be destroyed and you have a winner. His prowess is shown when he was able to take on both Edo Hashirama and Tobirama while stalemating a Prime Orochimaru right after at old age. Being able to hold his soul for an hour straight with the Reaper.


3. Minato Namikaze. IMO, the bulk of what makes him haxx is the FTG. The speed is REAL. During the 3rd Shinobi World War, enemy ninjas were given orders to flee if Minato appeared on the battle sight and A even thought that he would be unsurpassed, going as far as to think that me might be the Child Prophecy. He mainly relies on 2 techniques, the FTG and Rasengan. Don't underestimate him though, the immense speed and an A rank super charged technique going in your face in seconds is deadly. Techniques such as Bijju Bombs are nothing when he is able to counter it with Space Time Ninjutsu. His prowess is so great, the Third Hokage was most worried about his coffin popping up along Orochimaru's Edo Tensei summons. Jiraiya who is one of the legendary sannin has stated Minato as one of the most gifted shinobi ever. His speed is immense enough to earn him the nickname the "Yellow Flash" His prowess is shown being able to stop Tobi and the Nine Tails from fully destroying the village at once.


4. Tobirama Senju - His ability to kill Izuna Uchiha who was practically on the same level as MS Madara is done enough. His Water styles are graceful and as noted by several ANBU to be hard to believe and has enough power to easily pierce several large branches of the god tree is a force to be reckoned with. Combine that with his invention the FTG, and you have yourself a huge power house. Once tagged, there is no means of escape frpm Tobirama. His might is great enough that Orochimaru had to retrain him quite a bit when summoned and he has even cracked a wall simply by placing his hand on it, showing his godlike strength.


5. Tsunade Senju - Amazing super strength coupled with the ability of Yin Seal and you got yourself a mad dog! She is extremely difficult to kill and even when chopped in 2, she is still able to summon Katsuyu who has the abilities to put her back in 1 place. Katsuyu also has the ability to split and heal multiple ninjas on the battlefield making Tsunade one of the most greatest Medical Specialists.
